Trydowave just managed to fix it :)
Read a few pages back. Find a 3.1 file a500.rom file some pages back you will find example on correct filename. If you cant input the file in a emulator etc. You can try to byteswap the file in msdos or something then crc check it and rename it to a bin file and upload.
Bin and rom etc are the same type of file in this case.
Vsmpire team only wants them to be named name_kickstart3.1.bin :)
Today i'm upload my kickstart 3.1 to the FTP for my order of Vampire 600 v2.
I'd make this post, because i'm never post here for the order and i think that kipper use this forum to trace orders. I'm make the order direct to majsta email some time before.
I'm waiting for my new and incredible vampire v2 accelerator for my old A600.
ROM uploaded
Hi! I was thinking to buy benq monitor to use with the amiga. But with this expansion, if I buy it with the hdmi output, is it neccesary a monitor compatible with 15 khz? Or can I use with anyone? Thanks in advance.
Hi,
I have a question :
I have an A600 with a 2.05 rom and cloanto's cd with rom 3.1
Do I need to have the 3.1 really fitted in the A600 for the Vampire2 to work ?
As I understand it, yes. Same goes for my 3.X, I need to downgrade to 3.1 once the card arrives. But I believe if you own the CD you are legally allowed to burn the image to an eprom? If someone can confirm this I am more than happy to burn the image for you.

I don't understand why we need to upload our 3.1 rom images in order to flash the Vampire with, if we still need to have the same rom fitted on the original motherboard...
@Amilord, some assumptions:
- Vampire 600 v2 is being tested with the latest official rom version (v3.1) for maximum compatibility with the Apollo core.
- This 3.1 rom version is being stored in the Vampire card, maybe for better access times? Probably the rom on the Amiga motherboard is not even needed anymore.
- When building this amount of Vampire cards you want to automate things, therefore probably one rom version has been chosen. (builder perspective)
- From the legal aspect: you are allowed to make a backup of roms you own. If you don't own the 3.1 rom there is an issue for the Vampire team delivering the card to you with a 3.1 rom version programmed into it.
That's why you need to prove you have the v3.1 rom binary file by uploading it to the FTP server.
This is barely acceptable. When we went to sponsor this beautiful project it wasn't specified that we needed rom3.1 to run the card...
Don't misunderstand me: I'm very happy they over-spec'd and out delivered above specifications, I just say this process is a bit messy, not everyone will be able to produce a legal rom file, how are they going to receive their Vampire boards??
@Rakeim132, I fully understand the confusion.
Actually it would help if the Vampire team would let us know a bit more about the decisions in the design.
As is being demonstrated in this thread, most of us have at least 3.1 ROMs either installed in our a600 machines or as part of amiga forever. As a result of that I do not see an issue here. I guess they chose the most widely used modern ROM release.
So long as the installed ROM image is user flashable I have no issue with proving I am a legal owner of the pre flashed version.
That's the real question, the very same I've asked before, but it remained unanswered (I think it's something still in development):
- will we be able to re-flash our Vampires with kickstarts different from the 3.1?
- will it be a requirement to have the same physical kickstart rom?
Hiya, it's mark, just curious, how I'm missing off the pre order list, christer was going to drop you a line for me, as I'm in the philipinines with my family at the moment and have no way of sending you my Kirk start version as my amiga 600 is home in the UK. I'm running 3.1
Cheers Mark
Kickstart already uploaded. Cannot wait :)
Kickstart uploaded.
I saw a post from a beta tester on Google+ that the ROM file is loaded into RAM at startup. Aparently it does not read the actual ROM chip on the motherboard at all. In fact, he had no actual ROM chips installed and it still worked.

Do I get this right:
For owners of the AmigaForever CDs
Simply setup a A600 System in the Emulator.
Than use a Romgrabber inside the emulated Amiga and rename the rom-file as wished and upload to ftp
Yes?
@zerec, correct, other AmiBayers in this thread mentioned they have done the same thing
i bit off topic...
have you all been following
http://www.apollo-core.com/knowledge.php
Adoom running 23fps at 640x480x8bits (256 colours) using the SAGA they have implemented
also playing Mpeg files in 16bits and 16bit 800x600 workbench screen modes.
Mac emulator running prince of persia and simcity 2000 in 256colours
P96 drivers out performing a real CV64 by almost 2 times.
I mean,,,,, come on this is amazing stuff that would put many commercial products to shame :D
the icing on the cake would be standard Amiga game screen modes via HDMI,,, now that would be cool.
Kick 3.1 uploaded ( MD5 checksum E40A5DFB3D017BA8779FABA30CBD1C8E ), is it ok or is any action from my side needed?
I look forward to card, Blondak :-) .
Yes, Jens is probably a bit worried atm...
FPGA Arcade / MIST boards have fairly decent AGA implementations.. The other way of doing it i.e. like the IndiVision is not going to happen with the Vampire. But the SAGA you mention is an old (but doable) dream from the Natami days where AGA is implemented to be compatible, the extended without braking compatibility.. Whats in it right now is a Picasso 96 solution (frankly I don't know exactly how its implemented on the hardware side, but P96 drivers work anyway.)
An Amiga reseller was claiming recently that he preferred the Furia over the Vampire 2. One of his arguments was:
"the second one will never be ready before one year (at least) since they only have produced a few prototypes 3 / 4 weeks ago":o
To counter these rumours we need a clear statement from the Vampire 2 Team about the progress. That would silence the pessimists:roll:
Could it be because at the time we put on hold every reseller?
Even the Furia had its share of problems / delays: I pre-ordered one from an online reseller, my pre-order was cancelled and no further estimation date for availability was offered at that time. By the way, it's still not available from that reseller.
Not sure if I´m "required" to report this here, but anyhoo..
My kickROM is now uploaded to Kipper2k's server. ( also ran the gfsw.exe util and the cheksums checked out as far as I can tell ;-) )

The Furia brings your 1991 Amiga600 to 1993! The Vampire V2, brings it to 1998 :-)
But seriously, I wouldn't even compare those two.
I sent an e-mail to klipper2k via his website regarding the purchase of a Vampire2 but I had no answer, do you guys have another person to contact or do I have to wait till the orders reopen here ? Thx

This original thread was for pre-orders for a product that Majsta was doing. He wanted to check what kind of interest there was before doing a new production run. Then the project grew and more ppl got involved. Now, as I understand it, regular ordering is done from Kipper's site. But you should know he is currently a busy man and you need to give him a little time to reply.

Hi,
Just a quick note. As i think you can imagine i am swamped n order requests. I will reply to all when i get aa bit of time. Xmas is now over so i can get back in gear. Everyone will maintain their chronological place n the queue. The core is in process of being adapted to the final 128MB and the timing s being finalized. The P96 has progressed great and we jist need to get the timing done for the extra memory, it needs to be done before release or you will all yell at us :)
Now I am confused. I thought the boards had 64mb fast mem (as detailed in post 1) but now I see mention of 128mb on kipper2k's website and above.
Are the pre order boards 64mb and kippers 128mb. Not that it matters 64mb would seem to be a massive amount in an a600.
Craig.
Well the initial idea was actually to have 64MB. And indeed, the first round of boards all have 64MB, but these were only sent to developers and testers. During the design process and all the added features, it was decided that 128MB would give potential devs more headroom. A wise decision IMO, because once you put that Vampire into the A600, it will become something different. In fact, its a whole new platform. So all "retail" boards will come with 128MB RAM. As will future boards for the A500 and probably also the A1200 later this year.. (hope/speculation, because A1200 version will be more of a re-design than the A500 which is similar to the A600 version.)
Thanks for the clarification.
Kickstart 3.1 uploaded from my own Amiga 600 (yay! AmiFTP). MD5 checksum seems right.
Payment done for 2 pieces and kickstart uploaded :)
Thanks!
You are mostly right. I already have an ACA 030/25 with 32 MB Fast RAM. I use the OS 3.9 built in Genesis, so my current 600 operates with Internet flawlessly. Even so, I'm looking for a big boost with the Vampire V2... and the RTG looks promising, I never imagined RTG in the 600. The only thing that turns me a bit down with the Vampire is the lack of MMU that will prevent running NetBSD and Linux on it (ACA 030 allows me that), but even so the hardware is amazing.
Yes :)
@a4Kuse: AmiBay pre-orders have been closed, you can order it from here: http://kipper2k.com/accel600.html
where is your declared interest and your not on the list..
ive checked your posts back to before March 2015 and I don't see anything., all i can see is you sending money for 2 units after the closing date.
there are others waiting and been refused as pre-orders are closed. I will have Majsta confirm or deny this as all Vampire 600 V2 now have to be bought via Kipper2k
@kipper2k:
Shoot me a PM (I've also emailed you). I have some exciting news about being able to buy legitimate 3.1 ROM licenses for low cost. This might make it a LOT easier for people to get into the vampire card.
