Seeing this, is just making me look forward to the day I receive mine, def a case of quality over quantity for sure now.
Card received 30/01/2016. Tested quickly yesterday : it works well! Thank you Majsta and the Apollo team, you're amazing :)
Does the vampire cover the ide header in anyway? looks like its going to be tight around there.
No, ide header are not covered at all. Here you can see a IDE cf adapteur that has still another connecter on the right from ide header... So, no collision problem at all with the A600 ide headers...
EDIT : Vampire sd car reader onboard is still not active. We have to use the A600 IDE.
mine is similar to this.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Amiga-1200...-/131640631665
the ribbon cable comes directly out (to the right) towards the vampire. just wondering if there will be a problem with the cable itself pushing into it as well as having the CF card resting on top of the vampire?
I think you will have no problem, there is enough place. Plus, the Vampire is secured with 2 screws, one on each side of the board. It's well stable.
Kickstart uploaded.

As IDE cables are straight through, as long as you reverse the pins on both ends you could put it the other way around anyway if you needed too, as I said, as long as it's reversed on both ends of the cable
A second option is to buy a 20cm ide cable. And let the cable go between vampire and motherboard. Im awaiting 20cm cable from aliexpressi try this first on aca620. Until vamp 600 arrives
I have tried to do the "other way around" with cable it works with cf card. But i got Sata adapter and ssd.
Third option is to buy a cf adapter with angeled female 44 pin connector and attach adapter to mobo without the ide cable. Im not 100% sure it would fit though
Edit:i mean fit between motherboard and vampire.
I can see if it fits since a got an female adapter @ home.
@majsta
Would it be possible to configure fpga to create a "fake" zorro card in zorro configuration space with a small ExpansionRom (that points to the code that adds ) that is executed by exec on boot so Expansion.library adds the memory in an os-friendly way?
Advantages: you would forget about messing with roms and legal issues, users could use any rom version, they could cook their own roms... it would improve compatibility with other OSes like AROS/BSD/Linux as these kernels will scan boards located in zorro2/3 configuration space.
I originally brought a DOM but I had a tough time connecting it to my PC to load images of previous Amiga OS installs. When using a CF this comes in very handy if anything goes wrong. If I have trouble fitting the CF ill revisit the DOM route.
Hi ;)
It was possible to get one Vampire? If yes... i want to buy it.
Thanks
Pedro
Any word if it is compatable with the A604A / Rapid Road USB controller?
Thanks
Kipper2k's website is where you order now.
Once kickstart3.1 uploaded (1 week ago for me), should we let someone special know about it or is the process engaged ? So far I still see my kickstart in the root directory of the server...
"Kipper2k's website is where you order now" ....
i ask to the email on Kipper2k's website but he does not answer ....
is it possible to order a vampire II here ?
He will answer... eventually. If you'll take look on the homepage you'll find out that Kipper2k opened preorders December 21st and by January 23th he fullfilled all preorders up to... drumroll... December 23rd.
Apparently now, when we know that VampireII is not a vaporware so many sudden Amiga 600 lovers materialized that they clogged all the communication channels with Majsta, Kipper2k and others involved in the project, LOL.
For now the only recourse is to wait, I guess. Eventually everything will be resolved.
Hi Guys
I'm at a loss here with this Kickstart extraction/upload.
I am fine with following instructions, just don't know what to google for.
Could we have an easy guide linked to the first post page of this thread with instruction form start to finish for doing this?
I am sure there are pieces of useful info in this thread, but it's 78 pages long... also it would be nice to know that the instructions have been validated by the developers.
All the best
On the first post if you click on the link it will take you to a post from Kipper and so does this link which I copied from that post ;)
>>>Kickstart 3.1 upload info<<<
@CraigsBar
:) I could hardly find it myself the other day when I read about people uploading their ROM images, maybe it will be easier to find for the people who are reading the later posts. I'm pleased to see that you would have pointed it out if I hadn't, its help like that, that makes a big difference
don't worry about kipper 2k. I bought an A2000 8mb ram card last year, superb workmanship and am sure he is catching up with orders as this is sure to sell in huge numbers
I'm the proud owner of an A508, and I would like to echo the comment about it being superb workmanship, best way I can phrase it is " it works " no software needed or anything.
Kipper2K has updated his website with the following dated 7th Feb :-
Hi All,
I hve received the first main batch of boards and will start building them, I will update the list to reflect where I am in processing orders once I start mailing them. We have sorted out the Kickstart licensing and I have purchased some KS3.1 licenses for the Vampire and will include them on all future orders. This will increase the cost for new users by $2. for outstanding (PAID) orders I will use your rom you have supplied.
I will post the date here where I am up to in processing orders 23rd Dec 2015. when I get close to you on the list I will send you an email asking for payment. Do not send me an unsolicited payment, someone has already complained to paypal who sent me an unsolicited payment that I have refunded. (he ddn't understand the wait process). To check I haven't missed you on the list, check where I am in the processing date and if you sent me an email prior to that date and you never got an email from me, send me an email with subject header "Hey, You missed me" and we will sort it out. for the time being I cannot accept orders from stores.. Sorry, i just don't have time to read every email and respond to everyone individually. Please use the forums and irc channels to get techie questions answered, i troll the forums and try to answer as much as i can.
Kipper should hire someone to help him.. His business deserves it. :)
Yes i know about that one :D
The problem is that i don't know how to make an "image"... so that information doesn't help me much :(
Could you point me to a an easy guide that is vconfirmed to work and give the correct "checksum"? (checksum is another thing i absolutely don't understand what it is)
Download and run the GrabKick tool on your KS3.1 Amiga 600 (the version from A1200 won't work):
http://aminet.net/package/util/misc/GrabKick
It will create the ROM image which you can then transfer to your PC. On your PC you then follow the instructions in Kipper2k's post to download and run gfsw.exe from http://esrg.sourceforge.net/utils_win_up/md5sum/ to calculate the checksum of your image file. If it matches the value in his post, transfer it to the ftp and you're good.
How is the shipment going? I guess it will be a while until everyone gets the Vampire. I have not been contacted yet.

Check the first post. He updates the list when they are shipped out. You're not exactly on top on the list so it might still take a little while until you are next in line. :)
Well be patient : I've uploaded my kickstart 2 weeks ago and still no change in the first post...
I'll be patient, no problem at all :)
Does the update on kipper2k's site mean that we (I actually) shouldn't follow the earlier instructions on his site to send him an email (not PM here) to order a board? I wasn't paying close enough attention here and missed the pre-order period here.
When it was announced that new orders would be taken at his site, I went there and sent him an email as he instructed. I hope that wasn't wrong and there's something else I should have done instead. I haven't heard back from him in about 2 weeks although I wasn't expecting to until he finished the pre-order backlog. I was mostly hoping that the email would get me into line for when he starts to process store orders.
I'm guessing more ppl sent their Kickstarts than the list on 1st page suggests?
Maybe.
Fact 1: This Preorder is closed since Dec 2015. Everyone on the first page did the preorder and has to upload Kickstart 3.1.
Fact 2: Now you can preorder at kipper2k.com. Then you mustn´t upload Kickstart 3.1 because he paid licence for KS3.1
Fact 3: Dont ask for other Kickstarts, because Apollo Team has made adjustments to the KS3.1 Rom to support the new features of the Vampire II.
Fact 4: As you can see on first page, shipping has been stopped. But I heard, that production is going on well. Apollo Team is about to release Silver Core V2 soon and all cards will get this flashed before shipping.
That's a long answer to something I didn't even ask 😆
What I was referring to is the *fact* that I uploaded the ROM a long time ago yet, the list doesn't reflect this fact. So I was kind of guessing I'm not the only one and that the reason for this not being updated was something else...
(only 1 person from the €120 list is flagged as having uploaded the ROM).
As you can see from my username, I'm pretty high up among the €120 pre-orders..

Like you, I sent in my Kickstart a while ago, and it's not reflected on the 1st page. On the other hand, if you log back into kipper2k's ftp site, and check the folder "/Vailid Rom Images", you'll see all the folks that have been acknowledged as having a valid rom, even tho it's not yet reflected in this thread. I see 89 files there.
Who are the ones sending in their kickstart images, ones that have pre-paid already??!
Sounds like a few people need to be patient as there is only so much time in the day for them to be working this production.
I have cloanto 3.x Rom for my amiga 600 can I upload this to use via my Vampire v2 or only v 3.1?
Uploaded my 3.1 rom. Would like to know if can upload also 3.x rom has want to run amiga os 3.9 on my amiga 600 especially when have super aga is released too. I guess Natami didn't completely die. Thanks Majasta and Apollo Team
