EPROM adaptor boards

NEW DESIGN supports 27C322 (4Mx8-bit), 27C160 (2Mx8-bit), 27C800 (1Mx8-bit) & 27C400 (512kx8-bit) parts.

Converts the mask-ROM pinouts of the above parts (as used for Amiga Kickstart ROMs) to the JEDEC pinout of 27C4096 EPROMs (as supported by TL866 USB programmer, and possibly other cheap programmers too).
Since the TL866 has only a 40-pin programming socket, the extra address pins on 27C322/27C800/27C160 are configured manually via handled jumpers:
27C400: no need to set jumpers, program all 512kB in one pass.
27C800: program in 2 512kB passes: A18=0 (bank 1), then A18=1 (bank 2)
27C160: program in 4 512kB passes: A19/A18=00,01,10,11 (banks 1,2,3,4)
27C322: program in 8 512kB passes: A20/A19/A18=000,001,010,011,100,101,110,111 (banks 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 )

In MiniPro software, select AMD 27C4096 DIP40 device, and deselect 'Check ID'.
There is a push button that must be pressed for 27C322 devices ONLY. Then set bank-select jumpers as described above.

To clarify: this adaptor is 40-pin and will not work with (42-pin) 1MB EPROMs. It is for 512kB 27C400 EPROMs as used on A500/A600/A2000, and as usable in pairs on A1200 and others.

So you can't burn a two-image ROM for A500 for example

UPDATE: Above applies to the old adaptor. The new design allows you to program larger ROMs by setting jumpers for the extra address lines.

Retrodreamer I have two remaining boards provisionally sold, but not yet paid for. I will let you know if either of those falls through. Alternatively I would have to get another batch of PCBs done, which I may do, as there seems to be steady interest.

Interested in one fully assembled unit if available. If not, then I want to reserve one until you get the parts. :)

Regarding a cheap compatible programmer: search for TL866CS on Ebay. There will be a variety of cheap deals, depending on how many adaptor boards it ships with (usually for various sizes of PLCC and SOP packages) and whether shipping is expedited for your country, or regular old China Post. For the purposes of this adaptor all you actually need is the TL866CS itself.

For programming a 27C400, instead select AMD 27C4096 from the MiniPro (TL866CS) software, and deselect 'Check Device Id'. And you're good to go for burning ROMs.
