You will need an ISA or PCI Graphics card - attached to the approrpiate Bus, my original intention was to use this in/on an A2000 with PCI extention attached a GeForce FX6200 256MB card, alas with everything else in the chassis theres just not enough room to do it the way I want to, hence this little darling can be yours.

My original plan for this unit was to build into a very small chassis (somthing like a 5.25 drive bay or external CDROM Drive case - it was intended to have a bit of fun with Linux / DSL / Amithalon, but I honestly wont have the time for this project so she is now released back unto the wild and can be yours.

Just to confirm that BOTH of these SBC's come with both memory and cpus - with regards to the IB720 its brand-new in box and comes complete with cables, manual and driver cd.

Not looking for much with these units, so any reasonably offer would be accepted.

I have to ask, what are these things originally used for? They seem so curious. Please enlighten me?

i was also wondering the same thing, how would i go about making this into a working computer? do i just need an older computer with an ISA slot (thats what it look like) or is there a specific case that would be required?

These are industrial rack-based embedded PCs, that are used to control machinery. They are quite common on machine tools or high-speed production lines.

Indeed these systems are from an industrial / retail background - but PC's (like waffles) are so versitile =)



The Robo 628 - P3 750 SBC

Would of been used as part of a TELNET buffer where it would handle the handshaking of many networks. - originally this would sit on a motherboard (back plane) of about 12 ISA and 8 PCI ports - each of these ports would be connected to either SCSI controllers or Network Cards (probably Fiber-optic)

But, this particular SBC can be powered independently without a board - since its a BX440 common Intel Chips set with standard PC components this Single Board Computer can run like any other desktop PC - the only thing with this card however is the need for a graphics adapter.... the ROBO 618 is a Bus Master and Bus Driver so you can attach it to an ISA (and or) a passive PCI backplane this in turn will drive those adapters on it, such like graphics cards / sound cards etc.

the ISA backplane in the A2000 is Passive and my plan was to run the card from there with additional power from the modified 450watt ATX psu thats I have... alas with a recent upgrade this card is to just big for whats going in there =(

The Robo SBC is compatible with Windows 98/NT/XP - Linux / DSL / possible Amithalon and ICAROS =)


The IB720 P3 850Mhz

Now the IB720 is primaraly designed for Point of Sale systems or POS systems (hehehin joke there) - as such she can be run on her own with just power... she is PISA - so if you have a "Golden Finger motherboard" you can plant this card in it and have fun using its resouces.

the IB720 has SIS 68x onboard VGA Graphics and can drive an LCD pannel out of the box =) she can handle upto 850Mhz P3 processor in S370 flavour and provides USB conectivity with IDE HDD / Keyboard / Mouse / 10/100 Network so its all in one very VERY small form factor.

It can also be independently powered and doesn't need a bus or backplane to run, so you can design / build your own custom chassis - Comaptible with most OS's and it should run also Amithalon / ICAROS too


Originally my plan was to plum this up to a PW250 (pico) PSU in a very small external CDROM housing - with both a 2.5" HDD and SFF optical ROM at the front... theres enough cpu grunt to play DVD's from the optical drive and my movie collection from the network and the whole thing would fit inside a 5.25 caddy and provide some nice retro emulation for pretty much anything - PSone / Megadrive / NES / SNES / CPS1 / CSP2 / NeoGeo - and WinUAE / eUAE


SBC are really awesome for building small powerfull x86 PC's inside other computers or as dinky small stand-alone units.

but as with all things you only get out of them - what you put into them

If Wasagi does not take it, you can sell it to me, so declaring interest. I did not realise it had vga..

Just a couple of observations. The first card looks like it could be a VESA Local Bus connector, rather than distinct ISA and PCI. The second one looks to me as if it's an EISA card. You may find you need a suitable 486/Pentium-era motherboard to put these beauties in.
