Hi Guys,
I'm just about to purchase an A3000 which has no onboard ZIP fast ram.
I've got a Cyberstorm 060 MkII with 128MB ram that I plan to install.
I'm just wondering if there is any point in buying 16MB fastram ZIP's?
Thanks

I think the general wisdom is that it's worth tracking down at least a couple of MB for the on-board FastRAM (Either ZIP or DIP DRAMs) so that anything that relies on them (Zorro autoconf boards perhaps) have somewhere to write stuff, but there's no point in going for all 16MB if your accelerator has a bunch of RAM on it.
There are also adapters to allow to put old pc memory, since the ram used on a3000 costs a lot. But you need to check if it is compatible with the cpu card you have.
Yep, fine but hard to find:

I think you can't fit accelerator card on CPU slot + the SIMM adapter on ZIP sockets.
I recently bought a SIMM-folie from Amiga-Digital, here on Amibay. I believe he's planning on making some more in the near future. They are great as they still allow you to use a CPU card and have 16MB Fast on the motherboard. I put some photos on my Amiga 3000 thread: /showpost.php?p=90143
Thanks Guys!
I've sent a PM (hope this is OK) to Amiga Digital to see if he will have an adapter available anytime soon.
If not I may get some ZIP's and a SCSI chip from LTAC :)
Good, but is it possible to fit a CYBERSTORM Mk + Simm-Folie ?
What kind of SIMM Memory can be used here?
I'm also interested by this adapter  (depend of the price) for my A3000D without CPU card. SIMM-Folie can't be installed inside my second A3000(T)+PPS040 MERCURY.
Afaik there are (were?) two separate versions of the SIMM-FoNie (N, not L), one for the 3000D and one for the 3000T.
DJBase also made similar adaptors, whereby he says on his homepage that with his version (some?) accelerator-boards still fit.
On AMIGA.RESOURCE.CX we can read two versions: SIMM Folie (ADN Design) & SIMMfonie (Kato Development) + 1 version for A3000T.
Please can you give me the website of DJBase? Thx.
