Just for the benefit of others, I've bought some of these drives from Jon previously. All the variations of FB-354 drives have compatible bezels and eject buttons, so it's possible to replace a failed drive in an A500, A2000 or A3000 with these drives if you so wish, you just have to do a bit of hardware hackery.
The only thing I did observe is that they don't have any configuration jumpers and are hard-wired as DS0, so you won't be able to use them as a second drive without some more-extreme hackery.
Looks like the DSx jumper are on the adapter board, which you would probably remove when using in an Amiga.
Hello, What is the difference between the fb-354 and fz-354 drives?
thanks!!!!!
tom
AFAIK the FZ-354 is for use in an A600/1200 and maybe A3000? Dunno...the FB-354 is an A500 one, maybe A2000 too, or?
FB-354 drives are the taller (30mm) drives, found in A500, A2000 and A3000. The FZ-354 are the normal (25mm) drives, found in A600 and A1200.
New price: 20€ or £17 + shipping
Ok then, price drops to 20€ or £17 each +shipping
Great looking drives, indeed.
Are those FB354's 100% A500 compatible (mechanical, eject button is aligned), i.e. when put out of cage ? Thnx.
