an AMIGA 1500 powers up but black screen any one help plz:thumbsup:
@dj.echo
I've changed your thread title to something a little bit more meaningful.
Hopefully you'll get the help you're looking for.
Dave G
Ok first up is there any flicks of the screen as it boots up? Also if you can open the cover up and take some pictures that would help us alot to try and solve your proplem.
Hopefully it may be a simple case of re-seating a chip if it's a hardware fault. However when you do open it up check if there is a battery and what state it is in as these can leak badly over time creating sometimes un-repairable damage.
will get some pic`s up asap:thumbsup:
Do you have a SCSI or IDE controller with an HD hooked in? Does the HD activity LED on the front of the case lit?
The HD activity LED is lit all the time? If so, you have a non-validated partition and the Amiga will refuse to boot until it conclude the re-validation process. Keep it on until the process end, that might be for two entire hours to up to a week, pending the partition size!
Also move the tick source jumper J300 (or J102 if the mobo is 4.x or EARLIER) from 1-2 position (tick from power supply) to video source (2-3). That is to check if the power supply is feeding the Amiga with the tick signal, if this signal is not present (and A2000 PSU is known for dying without a reason). If the Amiga boots again, you'll know why.
as rkauer said.. are there any drive activity ?
can you hear the ticks from the floppy drive? does it register a floppy when you insert it (small activity on the floppy LED) ? and lastly does it boot the floppy if it's bootable ?
what rev is the motherboard ?
have you checked if it has leaked battery acid, are the caps ok ?
taken the hole a1500 apart i can see some damage near the battery the rest looks ok power light comes on no floppy disk activity the screen is now white have put up some picks and video
it looks like you have a minimegi chip.
try replacing that with the original Fat Agnus (if you have it)
remove the battery before more damage happens to the MB
otherwise it's difficult to see details with your current pics (out of focus).
what Rev is the board ?
If it's an A1500-proper, it'll have an r6.3 or higher board.
Yeah you really need to remove that battery ASAP. A pair of thin pliers should do the job.
