Scan Magic (External)

Hi all,

I`m selling my external Scan Magic, because I haven`t used it for years since I have the Mediator.

Anyway, checked it today and it works fine, enabling my A1200 to output to a Phillips 150S3 monitor.

What is the output like on an LCD monitor?

Also, I understand that this is a scan doubler. Does it also work as a flicker fixer?

The monitor I used to test is an LCD, so it works on that one.

As to whether it`s a flicker fixed too, I cannot say. There is a switch at the back, which when switched, turns either a red or green LED on. There was no difference in the output, as far as I could see on the monitor. Though it did go blank for a second after switching, either way, so I guess something is happening.

I never got any instructions with it, I seem to remember buying it from Power Computing in the UK and I`m sure I would have bought the better option, but as I said, I really don`t know.

Is there no banding at all with it on your LCD?

Ok, I only got the "load disk" screen from a spare A1200 which I just booted to see if it worked (the miggy & the scan magic).

The screen was all one colour background, the disk moved and the writing was legible. No banding as far as I could see, which, with a purplish background, I`m sure would show up.

Actually, banding is better seen on black screens. With my internal Scandy i have dark grey vertical bands. If there is no banding at all, i could also use this lcd :thumbsup:

Any chance you could attach a couple of pics of the adapter and LCD monitor in action, please? It would be very much appreciated, and would assist those who are looking for a good Amiga -> LCD monitor solution. :thumbsup:

You can flash, just diffuse the light with something (piece of paper in front of the flash, not directly on it, but near it)
