Spectrum Emu on miggy

Hey guys,

I tried loads of Spectrum emu's yesterday, most of which I have forgotten the names to. They all ran really slow, then I found a cover disk with one called speccylator (http://aminet.net/search?query=speccylator). Now this thing flies with all speccy games I put it through, sometimes it was to fast. But it has a slight issues when you want to move diagonally, you can't, you have to move up let go and then move left/right. Does anyone know of a speccy emu that runs perfect speed wise and controls are perfect? My specs are below, I also don't know why they were all very slow apart from speccylator. Would I get away with a c64 emu with my specs? if so any ideas? I just like to play around with stuff :thumbsup:

Fitzsteve has been giving specky emulation a bashing lately so he is very well versed in all things specky emu.

Insofar as the C64, the Amiga does indeed struggle as it has to emulate 9 or 10 custom chips - there's Frodo and another that I cannot remember - but what I do remember is that they were woefull even on my 060 =(

but that was a long time ago - so maybe they have improved?

Thanks Zetr0, I figured C64 would be to much for my spec's at least. I wonder if Steve will have any input with speccylator and controls.

For Speccy Jimbo use ZXAM Spectrum with your 030 it runs perfect :thumbsup:

I can upload an archive to the zone over at EAB to get you started :cool:

Never got any fun out of C64 emaulation on the A1200, but try the 8bit consoles, Master system (AmiMasterGear) is awseome on the 030, let me know if you want me to Zone that for you as well.

I was up playing those old magic knight games for hours last night, don't know if you remember them Spellbound/Stormbringer I think there was one called knight tyme as well?

Hi Jimbo,

I just archived the packs in UAE and uploaded to the Zone over at EAB.

Just un-lha them onto your miggy and they're ready to run, with some roms to get you started.

Have fun =)

Oh with the speccy emu, use 'Spectrum AGA' Icon as this runs Smooth, you shouldn't need the 'faster' one on your system.

Take a look at MagiC64, it lies on the eab ftp. That emulator should already be on a 68030 pretty quick. :)

You are a star sir :) I will grab those and have a play around in a bit. Selling all this Spectrum stuff has made me want to play some of the old games hehe.

I know what you mean - I have bought a few of your things and it has encouraged me to get my old programming software out and have another play with Z80 assembler.

As far as the games go I had totally forgotten about Knight Tyme until you mentioned it - I loved that game.

I will have to dig it out and have a few hours play with it (followed by several days of complaining that "they don't make games like they used to" to anyone who has the misfortune to bump into me). :D

Yeah those Magic Knight games were great.

@Steve both of those work 100%. Perfect controls on the speccy one, playing Sonic on the Amiga is awesome as well. You stuck some good roms in there.
