Before you do any soldering work yourself, it would be better to send the board to an expert repair service with solid soldering skills. Cosmos is the guy.
As i said, i can pay half the shipping cost.

Okay, the goliath style psu has a 5v line from a molex. Ive tested the line with my multimeter and its providing 5.18v. It plugs into the fan connector on the BPPC red to red and black to black. 5v and gnd. Its ready here for me to flick the switch. Can someone just give me the go on this? Dont want to fry the board :PQuote:

I think i know a fair method for both.
Send it to an expert who donīt know both of you or a 100% trustful neutral person.
If the card have a defect like worn outs slot or something else like icīs or bad soldering ... on the card than xanxi must take it back or pay the full repair cost + shipping.
If the card have no defect than itīs wasagi problem.
But maybe you find the solution before you send it anywhere

Okay this is how my powerboost is wired. I'm pretty sure I'm correct on this but I REALLY dont want to kill this card. The only things I have done to it so far is stroke its pins with a pin and brush it with a bit of IPA.
Testing the voltage from the PSU connector. It comes off from the 5v line on a molex.

Just remember not to leave it on for more than a few minutes without the fan!
While waiting for a reply on my 5v wiring I reinspected the board using my loupe. There is some rework to the battery connector, but it also appears that heat has affected some of the edge connector pins. Not sure if you can see this clearly, could these be the culprit.

Giving 5v directly to board via fan connector has not helped matters. This purely seems to be a connector problem in some form. Thankfully the board still boots if I hold it in place.
Cosmos has suggested I give the edge connector on motherboard a good rub with a rubber to see if it clears the contacts. I will try this later when I have some time.

Cosmos has inspected the board and has ruled out bad solder joints on the edge connector.
Today is a sad day :(
at a guess the 7mhz is the speed of a 68000 in an A500 or A2000 where your 060 should be in the region of 50Mhz+
thats just my guess though :edit: "I changed by a 060@64" so that be 64Mhz

Well another day and more bad news with good. Cosmos managed to source a connector, and now the cards boots 68k all the time, sadly no BPPC working. I am very annoyed with this card now. It has had 3-4 different problems. Im not sure to go from here, but am very cautious about trading for such expensive items in the future. So much money down the drain :(

Ever since he had the board there were problems but the previous owner maintained the board was fine and that the problem was at Wasagi's end.

It seems that it was some kind of software issue, but hardware is 100% ok.
Sadly you can't blame for such old devices that travel so many times through countries and postal offices not to mention some times not good packaging or static.
It's a risk we all take and sadly it exists!
For example, my own BPPC was bought from Binox here and didn't work at all when I installed in in mine (it was 040) despite it worked in Binox's A1200. I took the risk to send it to PG in Sweden who upgraded the CPU to 060 and voila... it worked like a charm! Yep, some BPPC's can be picky with 040's and some mobo revisions.
Another example is that I got so far 4 external floppy drives the last 3 years.
- 1 from Airey that was NOS but despite working, haven't managed to read any of my disks.
- 1 from Amibay (1011) that despite working doesn't read my disks
- 1 from Amibay (1011 again) that it read my disks and I was happy but after 2-3 days it stopped reading :(
- 1 from Amibay that works like a charm and never had problem
Especially for 1011 drives that were expensive since kinda rare, I gave a lot of money and atm they are useless to me.
Ofc I have received SO MANY items that worked like a charm and never failed but sadly you can't rely on old hardware like the ones we're using and all of a sudden JUST because we spent money on something that works and it doesn't... the Seller is the one to blame :)
I can say that with confidence since 99% of the time I'm the buyer since I rarely sell, and I've dealt with lots of admirable peepz on this forum.
I really wish that Cosmos could repair your board since his work is just ART but sometimes, shiz happens and following Murphy... it will happen in the devices you use most or are the most expensive :(
I truly sympathize and I wish that something can be done about it.

I'm a buyer and I purchased alot of things from different sellers here.
Only in two or three deals I have little issues. But are resolved, without any problem, by the seller/trader.
Of course, when I receive one item, first I test everything, but don't make modiffications in any way. If the items works.... :) If not, I contact asap with the seller to receive a new item or money refund.
Best, of course, is to publish lot of pics, or videos, showing the real state and/or working state of the items.
Sellers wants money and buyers wants items in good shape and working condition............
Honesty & seriousness, by the sellers and buyers, are the best way to make good deals. :thumbsup:

Hey Stan, I have nothing but praise for your work my friend. I wish everyone was as upfront with high quality photo's and video's like you do.
And Marios I too have lost some items due to faults, its very sad and somethimes as you say the downside of trading in older kit.
I guess there is always a big risk in dealing with these items, however I still worry that what we're saying here is that there is no comeback if you receive a faulty item.
That really scares me and makes me think twice before trading in future.

Indeed, dealing with 10+ years old equipment is a lottery - we will loose sometimes. That's the fact. Quality of postage service and packing in standard bubble film (no ESD protection!!!) will increase chance of hardware damage too.
Maybe (I said maybe) the fan doesn't start one time in Wasagi's home and the 603e crashed... I really don't kown...

On reflection of this whole situation I am very angry about the outcome. I feel let down. I immediately raised concerns with the board when I received it and tried nothing more than reseating the card and cleaning the edge connector on my motherboard. I was told that it was my card now and that was that. I have since driven 300-400 miles buying and collecting various A1200s to see if it was a problem with my hardware. The only kind of compensation I have received is the seller paid for postage to Cosmos in France for the cards inspection.
With the 3+ faults that have been discovered (Failed PPC, bad soldering of multipliers, displaced resistor etc) I can assure all, that I did not cause all of these problems, one maybe I could accept, but all three? I did not touch the board with a soldering iron and handled it like glass at all times.
If this was the otherbay, I would have requested an immediate refund and then sought a dispute through paypal if not successful. I have worked in the community spirit here to my detriment.
Has it changed the way I will trade here in future? Probably. From now on I think I will handle my trades differently:
1) Only trade with respected/established members.
2) Seek evidence of an item is working before I receive
3) Do not swap hardware
4) Only pay with paypal goods transaction
5) Test an item only once and if not working seek return/refund
The good thing throughout all of this is the support of the members here and their suggestions/help and a massive thankyou to Cosmos.
Conclusion:
I have been left out of pocket, in terms of initial hardware purchase + additional attempts to get this card to work, but worse of all it's changed my attitude towards trading here :(

Some things concern me looking back on the thread after Cosmos inspection:

3) Is this test even enough to confirm PPC is working? I only ever got 040 working in all my testing.

Thanks for the offer of an accelerator, but I have a another Bppc and bvision which I bought to replace hoping this one can be fixed. It may be now that I have to sell the BPPC setup and go with a cheaper accel. I dont think I can afford Ģ400-500 to vanish.
I think I must have somewhere my old 160MHz (non BGA) PowerPC that Stachu replaced with the 300MHz one.
Do you want me to arrange sending it to Cosmos in order to replace the old one (if problem exist on PPC CPU?

Yeah old PPC CPUs are not BGAs like the new 300MHz ones.

I dunno if the CPU of mine (the old one) works atm (it worked just fine pre upgrade) but once I'll get home I'll check it's existence and report back in order to send it to Cosmos.
