Sonnet Crescendo/7200 G3 400MHz/1M + 192 MB RAM
For sale is a Sonnet Crescendo/7200 with G3 400MHz and 1MB Cache. I came to the conclusion that for me this doesn't add much value to my already great CSPPC A4000D so I guess it would be better in the hands of someone that makes more use of it. And in the end I'm not a fan of FPS games, so all this 3D galore with Quake 1, 2, 3 & Heretic is not really for me.
When I got it, almost a year ago, it was in NOS state and it still is in near new condition. It comes in original box, with manual and case badge. I'll also add the 3x 8MB DIMMs that came with it when I bought it and the 3x 64 MB DIMMs I bought separately. As far as I know this 192 MB in total is the max amount of RAM that works fine in an Amiga with 3V PCI daughterboard (e.g. Mediator 4000Di 3V MK-III). What looks like a missing Dimm clip is actually the way these cards are produced, so no clip is actually missing.
Note that you require a good A4000D for this, recapped, strong power supply, good airflow for cooling (things thing gets very hot) and some smart card layout if you want a voodoo in there as well (another massive heat generator) and, as said, a 3V PCI daughterboard such as the Elbox Mediator 4000Di 3V MK-III (or you have to mod the card to work with a 5V PCI daughterboard). But then you have an immensely powerful classic Amiga for which now even Quake 3 has been ported!!!
Price: 600 euro excl shipping and paypal fees (paypal payment only). EU only.
