Hi folks!
A friend of mine has a problem with his Apollo 2030. His Amiga was running fine befoe he installed the Apollo. After installing it, the Amiga doesn't boot anymore. Not even the Diskdrive is making any tick. After removing the card all is fine again.
Does anyone had similar issues and knows what the problem could be?

Is it a "new to friend" card, fresh from the post with uncleaned contacts?
Is it inserted properly in the correct slot?
Does the card have memmory on it?
If so, is it correctly jumpered?
Enjoy figuring out this problem.

I know two models of Apollo 2030 exists, one with DIP (newest) and other with jumpers (older) to configure the board.
What's the model of your friend? Have a FPU?......

Ahh, the Apollo 2030. What fun I had getting one of those to run.
First off, disable the on-board SCSI. It's crap and often doesn't work. There's either a jumper or a DIP switch to do that.
Secondly, remove any GVP SCSI controllers if you have any. They are incompatible with the Apollo.

Guys, Im not familiar with the Apollo card.... but shouldnt one of the first questions be "what revision A2000 is it?" I know the 4.x series have HEAPS of problems with HEAPS of expansions, both cpu slot and zorro slot based...
...just a thought.
SCSI is disabled, it has DIP, inserted in the correct slot, tested with and without memory, FPU is there (tried with on and off), he'll have a look after his Revision now.

By most accounts, the Apollo 2030 is rather contrary in this regard. It's alleged to work reliably in 4.x versions of the A2000, but not in r6.x boards. Indeed many folks around here said it was impossible to get a 2030 working with an r6.2 board. I must've just got very lucky. Oh, you also have to have at least Kickstart 2.04, preferably Kickstart 3.1 for it to work. It doesn't play nice with Kickstart 1.3.Quote:

Just a thought: The A2000 in question here isn't by chance an "A" model? Old "slim" Agnus? If that's the case, the original 68000 needs to be removed.

It's a light version, and it refuses to work in the A2000 (rev 6.4 btw) of my friend. He'll send it to me now to see if it works here. I think I have every Revision of A2000s, so we'll see...
