PLA C64 Replacemet (with Eprom 27C512)
Unfortunately many inaccuracies are read about PLA Eprom solution. With a correct Eprom it works very well and withou glitch problems
Tested succesfully on all C64 motherboard equipped with (MOS/CSG 906114-01 or 82S100 or 8700-001 or 251064-01)
Tested also with all cartridges like Super Zaxxon (https://youtu.be/G07V43b871M) but tsted also with Fastload Cart. and GEOS without any problems

Why you have to choose this PLA substitute and not another solution?

  • It costs 65% less than the XC9536XL XILINX based CPLD or similar
  • Draws only 4mA...80% less than the XC9536XL XILINX based CPLD or similar
  • Run cold better than the XC9536XL XILINX based CPLD or similar
  • No Capacitor needed for CASRAM
  • Gold plated thick pins for best reliability and longevity.The pins are 0.018" (0.46mm) instead 0.024" (0.61mm)
  • Each individual units fully tested before shipping

FRANKLY SPEAKING :) ...
To date more than 400 units have been sold without any incompatibility problems. Why choose a solution with EPROM? Well certainly it is less critical with electrostatic problems ..

PRICE --> 9€ + shipping
Payment --> Paypal friend

So you seem to have found a (E)PROM that works just as well as the M27C512-90B6 from ST did. I suppose it was only a matter of time.

May I dare to ask which make/model is it exactly?

Does it work well with FastLoad too ? (hysteresis on inputs)

Of course if you don't have a means of delaying CASRAM then it won't work with boards 326298 and 250407 before REV. B but I suppose a simple 74HCT14 (use 2 gates) added on the board underneath could do the trick.

Yes it works without any problem as M27512-90B6.
As you know there are a lot of fake China on the market (Winbond for example)...but even ceramic Eprom.

I'm sorry for this but this information is reserved...it takes me a lot of time to find it

I'll have to try it
Anyway as you know there are a lot of people that are using the C64 at "basic level" and who sometimes need a cheapest solution

Based on their ASSY everyone must look for the compatible replacement PLA.
However I also make available the original PLA (906114-01) in addition to the N82S100. A simple heat sink and PLA "gallops" for another 30/40 years without any problems. But this is an expensive solution? Yes ok (39 €) but the only real one possible for 8Bit lovers / collectors
