neat8701 replaces the original MOS 8701 clock divider IC. The design is based on a modern chip ICS525-01. Power consumption is lower and clock signal quality way better.
The PCB is available with an on board oscillator or without it. Without the oscillator the circuit uses the crystal on the C64 motherboard.
NTSC mode is selected with a solder bridge. The oscillator is also different for the NTSC model.
Comes with flat pins which fit well the socket on C64 motherboards. Round pins available at request.
Prices:
Without oscillator: DIY kit with loose parts 10€. Soldered unit 15€.
With oscillator: DIY kit with loose parts 12€. Soldered unit 17€.
Shipping Europe 2,75€. Outside Europe 3,70€. PayPal fee 0,75€.
Notice to DIY kit buyers: the smallest parts are 0402. Assembly instructions:

Just so you know, ICS has been bought by Renesas so it is now Renesas making the 525-01R family of product.

AFAIK, only the 525-01RILF is still in production. Everything else is discontinued.

The same chip. IDT bought ICS in 2005. Renesas bought IDT last year. Renesas datasheet still says ICS525-01 but order code is 525-01R*** where the last letters change by packing and temperature range.
Quick browse and looks like the order code you mentioned is the only one readily available. I got them from Mouser & Digikey.

Does this fit in a C128? Wasn't sure how tall it is to fit under RF shield.

Any idea if this fits in a C64 with a Lumafix also installed next to it? Board 250425.

neat8701 in socket is 0,45mm lower than the original IC. So it will fit anywhere the original IC fits.

I received my neat8701 today, and it is awesome! Its noticeably smaller than the 7701 it replaced, which was important for my application. I have a 250425 board with a LumaFix64 from commodore4ever - the footprint of the LumaFix64 consumes some space next to the VIC-2. With the neat8701, the LumaFix64 can hover over it. I was concerned about the LumaFix64 fitting with some other 8701 replacements.

My 7701 chip was working, I was looking to use the neat8701 to "fix" a broken crystal and/or CT1 trimmer capacitor without using a soldering iron. So its a nice diagnostic tool in that it can bypass all three of those components assuming you order neat8701 with the appropriate crystal.

Thanks again! Great work!
