Oops, we did it again…New DB23 connector hoods preorder open

Thanks to the wonderful Amiga community we were able to successfully reproduce the Amiga DB23F connector and bring it back to the market. Supplies of new Amiga DB23F video connectors are now winging their way across the globe.

What’s next to come from the partnership of RetronicDesign and Soigeneris? As you may be aware the stocks of DB23 connector hoods are also depleted, those that are left are pricey and have spotty availability. We decided that it would be better to start from scratch, again, and have some new ones produced.

We are very happy to announce that new DB23 sized hoods are on their way! These will be custom sized to properly fit the new DB23F connectors and molded in a stylish black plastic. Pre-orders at discounted prices are now open. As a special bonus you can also order DB23 connectors to be shipped with your new DB23 hoods at a special price. We expect the hoods to arrive about the end of March 2021.

A quick update on the DB23 hood project. The tooling is being manufactured now and we expect samples the first part of February. Here is a quick screen shot of the 3D model of hood and connector. Of course, the hood will be black, but this grey color comes out better in the model.

We have received the first production samples of the new DB23 hoods. The matte black color looks great and the hood fits nicely on the new connectors as well. Not being a fan on the tiny screws used on DSub connectors I am very happy to report that the thumbscrews are easy to use, the knurling makes them easy to turn but they are not so large as to get in the way. We should have the first full production batch about the end of March. There is still time to preorder, see the first post in this thread for details.
