Default GVP A2000-HC+8 Series II Rev II

For sale A2000-HC+8 Series II Rev II. There is something wrong with it, it works only with 2MB ram, SCSI controller is fine. Some memory sockets have broken clips on one side but they still keep memory modules in place. 4MB memory is included, short SCSI cable included

    Asking £12.

Declaring interest in this please, depending upon one quick question. What version ROM is on it?

Okey dokey! I thought my luck might have been in and it was a 4.15.

Still, it'll do the job whilst I sort some odds and sods out, so provided it's not being delivered personally by Nigel Mansell at the cost of £10 a mile I'll have it.

'Ello again! Just thought I would give you a report on the card. Nothing bad, don't worry...

You said it was only working with 2Mb RAM. Well, I was having a nosey around the card before I fired it up in my 2000 and I noticed that one of the legs on the ROM was bent double, and therefore not making a contact with the socket. So, I straightened it out, give it a quick tinning with the soldering iron for some strength, placed it in a turned pin socket to be safe, and then placed it back into the card.

OK, then I put the 4x1Mb SIMMS you gave me in, checked the jumpers, fired up and BAM! 4Mb RAM.

I've not booted from SCSI yet, just checked that it does indeed see a drive and that it's there in early startup/Sysinfo. Also, I've not tested the memory exhaustively, only mousing around in WB and the report that Sysinfo gives, but certainly no Gurus as yet, and so far all is well, or at least as well as you can check in 20 minutes.

So, there we are! Just thought you might like to know.

It does recognize memory but when you use it it will hung up, also fail on GVPmemory test when more than 2MB

Ahh. Fair enough. I'm not worried at all, it is perfect for my needs, something cheap and cheerful that'll keep me going whilst I sort out why my GVP Combo is not seeing its own 32-bit RAM.

But, I would have felt a bit guilty getting it so cheaply if the only real problem with it was an bent pin.
