Busy weekend but nice haul. I will have these up for sale, as Daddy wants a new i5 Mac Mini.
    First, the sweet box,
    A A500- VXL 30 and VXL RAM 32 Board.
I was told this board was never installed (the previous owner never got around to putting it in his A500). It has what appears to be complete documentation, a unopened PAL upgrade kit and A 030 @ 25mHz.
Next, a "Hard Frame" SCSI Card
a Progressive Peripherals & Software ProRAM 2000 card
and a Commodore A2065 Ethernet controller (sorry no Cat5 connector) and box
My new blog at http://amigalounge.com is Amiga browsing friendly, stop on by for cool tech news with a geeky slant.Youtube video channel is Glenvdb1. My prices go UP once something is tested and verified working, your opportunity to save money on Untested "As is" merchandise. my things are now only posted for a week at a time,I am a Smoker

totaly not retro but i just bought a RROD xbox off of the other place.
Did a rudimentary fix for now till i get my rework station (should be here any day now)

the fix worked so i checked the dashboard and its one of the older dashboards and is still J-tag able. so im happy with that
il reflow the stupid thing just to be sure and im upgrading the heatsing on the gpu, and i also added a southbridge heatsink from a old pc to the scaler chip.
The addition of 1 more fan with everything els mentioned above should keep this little box of hombrew current gen console running for the forseeable future.

I now have 2 of thsese things. one witha flashed firmware dvd And this one, yet i dont play them at all lol.
(i dont much care for current gen stuff i guess. only my pc)

About reflowing the 360, my mate got given a 360 which had been sent away for repairs 3 times before he got it, this broke down again a week later with the dreaded RROD. The hardest part of sorting it out was actually getting the case open as neither of us had actually done it before, as it happens one of the X arms had come loose so the heatsink was not sitting properly. From fleabay my mate got the repair set that comes with steel washers, nylon ones and spring washers plus the screws, heatsink compound and tools. That worked a treat, the instructions show how to let the GPU heat up and reflow itself while keeping the CPU cooled, it takes about 15 minutes to cook and around 20 minutes to cool down before moving anything etc.

Its early days yet but so far so good

    it will rrod again unfortunatly.
the kits do work to an extent but the 100+ C the gpu gets to will not reflow the solder and your looking at ~210C to properly reflow the solder.
the kits are more of a temporary fix rather than a repair. the length of time this fix will last is a variable, some times hours other times months.
Some people will reflow the solder with a hot air gun (thing for stripping paint) but those things get to like 500C and are not something i would advize using.

if i wasnt planning to sell the xbox on i would probably be happy enough to just do the same as you have and then re-heat the gpu when i felt like it needed it "gfx errors start games freezing excetera"

But i am planning to sell it so i will definatly reflow so i know its going to last and i would reball the thing instead of reflow but i dont have the little dies needed to line up where the new solder needs to be.

I had wondered about the reflows reliability, especially as no flux is involved in that method but for now its OK. I also have a hot air rework station but I haven't even tried it on surface mount quad packs never mind BGA's. I would also require a thermal probe if I was to use the station as it doesn't have a temperature readout built in and too high a temperature will destroy the device.

Hopefully, this is something I won't need to do but I would think that there must be a fairly high chance of the solder crystallising without the aid of flux so maybe it is only temporary. I don't want to go through the re-balling BGA's option for one Xbox 360, its a bit pointless buying the jig and screens plus the right sized balls for one machine although once you have them, I suppose there is a business opportunity there for a few bob on the side.

    Just back from getting this:

Another A500 Plus, but if this works in the morning ....
As in, yes, I removed it already, cleaned it, but I don't think so ...

The better part is this, which all works

And the price, you wouldn't believe it

Yep, I had a good moment here, one of those finds where you have a smile on your face

I wouldn't even care if the 500 would be dead or alive, I came for the 530, and I was happy to see it booting on the other A500 plus that I got.

    Yep TC, sharp eyes
Among with some 200 floppies, dust cover and a 5 1/4" drive.
Just awake, but in a few will give the girl a start, after I put a Denise in there, cause that is on the multivision and maybe that isn't working.
The 500 plus was sold as defective.
