last week i bought a wii off morcar which had all the port covers missing, faulty dvd drive and missing most of its screws however it softmodded and does work with usb hdd.

I decided i'd recase it but as its missing screws too it was gonna be more than it was worth so i decided to look for a dead wii and try and recycle the case.

I came across a wii listed as completely dead, no power with cables, 2 remotes and 2 nunchucks (nice spares) and ended up getting it cheap.

Its just arrived and as listed it had no power at all. To test if it was the wii or the power cable i plugged my wii in with the new cables and that also had no power. After checking the plug i found there was NO FUSE both wii's now power up fine.

So it seems i still have the one with screws missing and poor condition case and now i have another fully working inc dvd drive (which had Wii Sports in)......

Nice one. Gotta love those faulty deals on eBay that turn out to be something simple

The common one is Amiga with a faulty floppy drive that works after you run a Disk cleaner through it

I've got a spare Wii which I've never got around to testing I'll see if it works or not and let you know. If is jigged then you can have for parts. Just remind me though if I haven't got back to you as I'm suffering from chronic airheadedness at the moment

I have a new in box first generation Wii. I'm going to hard mod the console then put it back in the box for a backup. While it won't technically be new anymore, it will be as close to a 100% reliable backup for the one I use on a regular basis.

Great that you managed to get a fully working unit! Be sure to play Skyward Sword if you get a chance. It has to be the best game ever for the Wii and it shows how good motion controls can be.

Been busy the past days, got the soldering iron out and finally assembled a petdisk, an micro-sd card interface for the pet!

Had a few issues getting it going, primarily dirty contacts on the pet edge connector and Mac OS X not really writing fat 32 in a standard way... Then a change of cards and all works perfectly. ! Mike at bitfixer was super-helpful too !

I seem to be getting more and more into Spectrum nowadays.

I just received DivIDE 2k11 from Lotharek today. Nice piece of kit, I must say. Playing games with the Speccy just got a whole lot easier.
