Payment sent (ordered on J+). But forgot to include my forum name in the transfer - dough! I know....

Also I am unaware if I actually made the payment as a gift, as I did it through the Ipad app, and was in a bit of a hurry at that time, something about a baby and a lot of poop everywhere....

I know I should just have waited, but wanted it out of the way. Think I paid the 4%, sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. If too much trouble, can the payment be cancelled, just to be made again, rightly this time

Ladies and Gentlemen. I am encountering a few problems with regards to fees.
PayPal actually vary fees according to your location and the "standard" 2.9% + 0.20p formula is actually not true at all. It also takes into account the fact that the transaction is in US dollars, which makes a difference.

Before doing your calculations you must go to PayPal's page HERE, and enter in your country, and change the currency to US Dollars.

This will give you the correct percentage rate. You then need to use an online calculator such as Clothnappy where you can find the correct amount by adjusting the percentage and added charge.

Also, if you are outside the UK it seems that your payment will not be released until at least the 17th April at the earliest. Again, I am afraid that these are aspects of the PayPal account that I was not aware of, so can only apologise. Fortunately this only affects one member at the moment, so I will contact them with their options.

    PayPal.

I am having a bit of a problem with PayPal at the moment. The "hassle" free experience I was promised when I have spoken to their representatives before and during the set up of the Group buy account is not happening.

Can all those still outstanding payments please not pay until I post on here that it is Ok to do so.
I have to phone PayPal on Tuesday.
To everyone who has already paid do not worry, your payment is safe. I will, if necessary make full refunds but I sincerely hope that it does not come to that.

Paypal is notorious for hanging on to people's money..it is an extra source of 'income' for them...

they also tend to treat 'large' amounts of money as 'suspicious', 'large' being very subjective of course...

Yes, it is proving to be a bit of a pain to say the least. At the moment they are hanging onto all payments with fees until at least the 17th April, plus they have decided that because of all the payments I have had as Personal Payments owed that I am attempting to defraud them of fees for items I am selling. I have spoken to their reps on numerous occasions to explain the situation and they have all agreed that it is fine especially as when I finally make payment to Igor, they will be getting a large lump of the fees then, at the appropriate time.
I have to speak to them again to ensure that the account is not frozen whilst it is investigated.

'ebay' mentality....they aren't entitled to 'fees' for things you are selling in any case..they are being paid for the service they are providing...transferring funds that don't belong to them.....

    but try telling them that...

That is really annoying. I got into a similar situation a couple of years ago because I was receiving site donations through my account. They froze the account pending an investigation and it took weeks to sort out. They have an amount threshold that triggers an alert when crossed and I had to fill in online forms to state it wasn't my main source of income, and provide additional forms of id to prove I wasn't money laundering. Complete madness. They seem to act like the US government to terms of paranoia and suspicion.

I hope you get this sorted out quickly. They do like to freeze accounts for up to 60 days, meaning they are stealing people's money for up to 3 months. Imagine the news if banks tried to do that.
