ive bolted my A3000 back up but both floppies are dead.

can i fit the A500 /2000 chinnon type drive? i take it they are the same model ?

i never took any notice of the model number

i noticed it doesn't like A1200 floppy drives...not surprised really.

i thought amiga drives where interchangable?

what drive was in the 3000 mike?

The fat ones are ( a500/2000/3000/4000) as far as I know. The 600/1200 used slimmer drives with slightly different eject button profiles.

The 1000 used the biggest drives of all.

I think the 500 / 2000 etc drives are all the same in relation to the eject button ... Need to check tho

The 3000 has a big ole eject button , I hope it slots in to a standard a500 drive

Mike :)

i should of been more specific,:LOL: what is the model number mike of the drive thats caputski in the 3000?:)

I was a little quick at bolting the 3000 up and I didn't notice .... I can't stand the blood bath that is stripped Amigas all over the place :)

I'll check the model number in the week :)

I have a weird modified A1200 drive that's modded to fit an A500, it's no use to me and is yours gratis if it's any use when I send the A4000 mobo over :)

You can use the A500 FB-354 version (which has the mid-front cutout), I doubt the A2000 FB-354 version will fit as there's no cutout on the metal frame there (since there's a dedicated fascia to mount onto the frame). The A3000 has an A500-like fascia carved in the front bezel, so I think the cutout is needed.
Just desolder the LED from the A3000 one and solder it on the A500's FB-354 empty LED pads.
Also steal the eject button from the A3000 one to replace the incompatible eject button of the A500's one.
That's about it.

It should be either the FB-354 or a DD-configured FB-357 or (for late production models) the Amiga-native HD FB-357A.

There should be no problem. The only real difference is the A1200 ones don't make use of the +12V line. Try isolating +12V just for kicks - it shouldn't matter though.

@mjnurney

FB-354 for A500 didn't support LED, but some FB-354 for A2000 is eject button "compatible" with the original A3000 drive ... of course with LED ;) If it help I can take some photos about FB type drives.

no the jumpers arent mixed up - one is burnt out and the other chews disks..

:)

@Mohican
your right the FB-354 doesnt support LEDs - i tried that on my A2000 years ago..

however the Atari ST floppy works - just tried it :)

The question is the eject button ... common Amiga problem ... Once I tried to put an A1200 panasonic into an A500 :picard The A3000 drive buttons needs 3 fixing pont ... you can find some A2000 drive wich it has.

i have many drive for 500-2000 and other but don't have an a3000 for verify

please write the model you need

I attached a photo which is the perfect choice (y)
(1st is an orginal FB-357, others are A2000 DD-s, but the point is the 3rd hole on the metal bracket, or you can make the 3rd hole)
