    Default My C64 with SD2IEC =D

    Hi!

    Thought I would share pics of my new toy with you!

    I finally took the plunge and bought a solution to play games from SD Card on my C64, I never had a C64 back in the day, in fact I only got this one a few months ago, my first ever!

    With the advice of you awesome lot I decided to go with the SD2IEC, I bought it from the official site and it was delivered in only a few days and looks pretty sweet!

    It's really easy to setup. just plug it in and follow the simple instructions here:

    http://www.sd2iec.co.uk/id6.html

    Took me less than 5 minutes to format the SD and put a few Games on it (.D64's) and I'm already up and running! And I'm a complete Novice so it must be simple!

    Loading is apparently the same speed as a real 1541, and some say a bit slow but certainly seems fast enough for me and a damn site faster than tape!

    I'll probably look into jiffydos or a fast loader cart at some point but for now it does exactly what I need and I'll be spending some time getting to know all the features better soon!

    The SD2IEC works with many fastload cartridges, such as Action Replay, Final Cartridge III, JiffyDOS, etc. You can also get a file browser that you can put in the root of the SD card. Makes getting through directories much easier!

    Nice stuff Steve!

    Thanks guys n girls

    There are a couple of fast loader carts on ebay right now and one is the epyx.

    I'm not bothered much by the wait though, it's a good chance to check Amibay for bargains

    @tokyoracer,

    If you follow the link in post #1 they have a variety of cases and I chose this one to match my C64 B-)

    Grab the wedge software on a .D64 image and use it while your JiffyDOS don't shows up.

    Acts exactly like a JiffyDOS ROM but in software. Might eat a few of the scarce memory.
