Default Help with kipper2k's A500 8mb board with IDE

I'm having some problems with kipper2k's Amiga 500 8mb board with IDE compact flash connector (http://www.amibay.com/showthread.php?51339). The memory works great... no problems at all there... it's the compact flash cards that are driving me nuts. I have two compact flash cards, both the same model - Kingston 4gb 133x elite pro (http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Compa.../dp/B000Y0ZGS2), and an SD card to compact flash card adapter (http://www.amazon.com/SD-CF-II-Type-.../dp/B000YZGCIU). None of the cards seem to work properly with kipper2k's board. Initially when I was setting up the compact flash card (used one of the 4gb Kingston cards), they kind of seemed to work; if they were formatted as FFS, I would get "...has a checksum error on disk block..." errors when installing Workbench, then after booting from the drive I would also get the same error. If formatted as PFS, a different error would occur, but it amounted to the same thing: an unusable drive. I tried using both HDToolbox and HDInstTools, being careful to always set the max transfer to 0x0000fe00. Recently I tried to use the SD to CF card adapter, and with that, the hard drive access light on kipper's board wouldn't even light up. HDToolbox and HDInstTools both seem to see a device there and they take their time trying to detect it, but ultimately decide nothing is connected. Now at this point, I figured I would try the 4gb CF cards again; now HDInstTools locks up when it starts up and tried to query the drive, and HDToolbox will do the same if I try to configure the drive information and have it read that info from the drive. My system is an A500 rev. 6a with Kickstart 3.1, an A501 in the trapdoor slot, a Mini Megi Chip, motherboard is modified to see the trapdoor RAM as chip RAM (so a total of 2mb chip RAM), an ECS Denise (so I have a full ECS machine), an Indivision ECS, and kipper's 8mb board. I'm using a modified PC power supply to power the Amiga and I am also directly powering the floppy (I had to otherwise it was affecting the video from the Indivision). I'm absolutely going crazy just trying to get this system working. Are these CF cards not compatible with kippers board? Do you think there is a power issue? Something else entirely? Ignoring the IDE connection, the system is absolutely stable. Any advice?

Think he has TC - " I tried using both HDToolbox and HDInstTools, being careful to always set the max transfer to 0x0000fe00. " Think he's set it incorrectly though - should be 0x1fe00 ?

A Max transfer of 0xfe00 is lower than 0x1fe00... It's considered a "safe value" when 0x1fe00 still gives you troubles. 0x0000fe00 is just 0xfe00 padded out to its full length. Neither really matter right now as the 4gb cards lock up the system when they are being read from or written to by HDToolbox or HDInstTools.

lets not muck about, send it back to me and i will check it out, I am thinking an intermittant cold solder joint so if you want, mail it back to me (include one of the CF cards too.). If you still have box, the return address should be on it, otherwise msg me
