I tend to clean all my new stuff when I get it, even loose carts as I really hate dirty kit...

I was especially impressed how clean this old Nes came up. This is the pic taken when I opened the box:

She's scrubbed up well don't you think :)

Just noticed the AV ports on the side too which is cool, I thought I'd be stuck with RF only at first as I saw no 'Multi out'

This is my first Nes in a long time so looking forward to getting hold of some of my old favorite Games :)

Very nice clean-up! I really love the NES. One of my favorite consoles.

Aye, the nes was a great console.
I had Mario 3 for it, and must have wasted months getting to the end of it.

The French version of the console does have a Scart output connector IIRC - but it may still be composite - certainly still has a bit of dot-crawl.

You just need to open it up and snip a leg on the lock-out chip. Probably the easiest mod to do and makes the wee beast region free.

nice machines there steve:)

i was always weiry of the cartridge port on the nes and the analogue stick on the n64,but they are really nice machines when there working properly.

Looks great! You'll need to do a Steve's cleaning tips guide next :)

Thanks Heather, also a little package from the USA dropped through my letter box this morning
Excellent! Drop me a PM when you have a chance to try it out.

As for the NES, have you picked up an EverDrive or equivalent yet?

Heather

He he thanks guys, was just a damp sponge and washing up liquid!

Normally I take them apart and clean the plastics fully in the sink but that was just some surface dirt and wiped off easy enough.

However I just stripped down a Master System II, a Megadrive II and a Snes to clean up, there not much hope for the Snes though it's the yellowest Snes I even seen! I only got it to mess around with region modding so wasn't too fussed about visual condition...

Is now:

Nothing to spectacular, but I'm planning to do the AV mod to it which looks pretty easy even for my brutal soldering

Will do!

I'm just going to buy the loose Carts I think :)

Nice Steve, I'm the same, whenever I pick up a new console/game/controller etc I take it apart, clean all the bits separately and get it looking like new!

You should be able to retro brite the yellow SNES.

Yeah I'm thinking about that now we've got some Sun. I don't want to mix any chemicals though as I'm clumsy with thing like that, probably end up blind.

I read that BBlonde from Superdrug works on it's own and is a paste so I might give that a shot on a few yellowed things I have here :)

I used B Blonde on my A4000, worked like a charm. It only costs £1.79 in Boots :)

Great, I've got to do my spare A4000 and a couple of A1200/A600 Keyboards too.

How far does 1 bottle go?

I used 2 bottles to do my A4000 fascia, keyboard, and disk drive. So I would definitely buy a few

Great! I'm heading into Bromley tomorrow so will grab a few bottles at least!

Wish me luck!

I've managed to better than halve the yellowing on the Snes today, I didn't know if it would work as although it was sunny this morning when I started it quickly clouded over :picard

The Keyboard is almost there too again in just 1 day, I lose the Sun here at about 6pm over the house so I guess they had 8 hours.

I've cleaned them and will give another treatment tomorrow, only used half a bottle of BBlonde so far :D

I've attached some before and after pics below, I imagine another treatment and they'll be like new.

Will also be doing the A4000 facia tomorrow now I'm happy with the method. Assuming the weather is fine that is!
