Philippe Lang
Dear Sir.
Amiga produced by Commodore and its successors is an exceptional device for us. There is no one among us who would not agree with the view that it was a computer ahead of its time, thanks to the use of which, many of us tied their future in the IT industry. Surely, we all had an unforgettable childhood and youth thanks to Amiga.
Unfortunately, this wonderful construction did not survive the competition with cheaper and not necessarily better PC. Time passes and many of our beloved machines began to require special care, as the previous owners did not always pay due attention to it. Therefore, with great joy, we received the information that there is someone who will take the trouble to create forms, thanks to which our friends will get new cases and keys. As big fans, we welcome every initiative concerning our hobby with great enthusiasm. It was so also this time. Many of us without hesitation decided to support the collection organized by Mr. Phil... We have been patiently waiting for the happy end of the whole action. The initial successes in the form of production of some keyboards and enclosures, despite some reservations about the quality, caused euphoria not only in people who supported the collection and gave a reasonable belief that the project will be happily completed.
Time was passing and some of us, with growing anxiety, started to read the information that indicated further postponements of the deadlines for the production of missing cases and keys. Appreciating Mr. Phil's commitment so far... we kept our fingers crossed for the success of the project and understood the problems he might have faced during production.
We were recently alarmed by the fact that Amiga 1200 cases were on sale and some of us did not keep our promises made at the beginning of the collection. We make no secret of the fact that lately there has been no clear information about the actual state of affairs, supported by e-mails from manufacturers, subcontractors who were commissioned to produce the cases and keys.
Therefore, Mr. Phil, we expect that you will provide photos or emails from the companies you cooperate with and will dispel our doubts about the actual state of progress of the project for which you have raised a substantial amount of money from us.
By publishing this open letter we want to draw attention to this problem among as many Amiga enthusiasts as possible from all over the world. We hope you will support us and thanks to this Mr. Phil... will publicly answer our question about progress of the above mentioned projects.
