Amiga 600 - I love to hate you

Hey everybody.

I always hated the 600 since day 1 when it was introduced back in the day. At the time I had an Amiga 500 and when I saw the 600 It seemed like an abomination..."What?? No numeric keypad???" Let's not start talking about the CPU ....

Whan I returned back to the amiga after all those years I was really trying to avoid to get one.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, I bought a few months ago a boxed 600 from an amibay member, and decided to boost her a little and turn this into a gaming machine for my 5 year old daughter.

Let's get started...

The amiga 600

CF to IDE extender (By kipper2k)

PSX Adapter cable

PSX Joypad

The first thing to do was to remove the useless RF modulator.

After a few minutes....

Time for the indivision adapter

That looks really nice....Imagine having an amiga 600 back in the day with a VGA socket

Time to install the Α604 and the scandoubler.

Lets test what we have done so far...

Now for the good stuff...

Indivision ACA 630
Kickstart 3.1
Ide to CF Extender

The extender needs a small modification to the amiga case so that we can use the CF card and remove it without opening the case all the time.

The amiga completed.

Time to install classicWB ADVSP just for fun...

In order to use at the 600's ports both a mouse and the PSX cable, some cable extensions were needed.

That's all folks!

At this point I would like to thank two Greek amiga users, Dony and mfilos...

Very nice clean system there. Looking forward to the rest of your setup.

very nice indeed, thanks for sharing

The aca630 really has made these desirable little systems indeed. May need to invest in one at some point.

Sweet setup :)

Delicious indeed nikos!

What really tickles me is the Indy ECS has chunky pixel write mode - very cool indeed!

Thanks everybody for the kind words.

The ACA 630 and the A604 is trully a killer combination. There is no need to remove the floppy to use the Indi ECS like the A603 and that makes it awesome.

I'll have to see where I will make the USB ports...that's the only thing left

Nice setup indeed. Well done Niko!! Btw, looking at your photos I see we have the same IKEA glass workbench for all the amiga hackery jobs, haven't we; :D

Damn... I was expecting something to go wrong... :o

Indeed thanks to the ACA 630, Indi ECS and a subway the A600 has come of age this year :) long over due but well worth the wait

Very nice!

Kind of makes me want a 600 now

Very good job :)

Just a noob question: how do you escape from whdload applications (games and demos) without the * key or the DEL key present in the complete kayboards of A1200, CDTV, A500, A4000, ect.?
