Hi,

My 1551 is in bad shape, I bought it years ago and the seller didn't pad it. Such a heavy device doesn't take well to being thrown around in the post office without any padding.. :)

So. If you have a broken 1551 with good plastics, I would certainly be interested in purchasing the case.

Thanks in advance..

Just an idea:
As per my first view, the external housing of 1551 looks very simialr to the old-fashioned 1541 (first version).
You may easier get an old (broke down) 1541, and may do some painting session at home (garage). May even apply fancy looking metallic paint. :D

Same thing happened to me, had a 1551 shipped to me and the bottom case was cracked. I ended up using a 1541 bottom case and painting it black. Looks descent and hard to tell...

Youd better add me to this list as well. :( My 1551 has been kicked about in the post so much that some of the case is almost sand.

If anyone has a bottom case that is not cracked/broken let me know.

This story is finally over. I got the plastics. The left side of the front edge was chipped away, even though it was intact in the pictures, but such is life.

Just toss your 1551's around, just increase the value of my pristine 1551 :p

It seems to me that the black 1551 plastic casing it more fragile and breaks up over time more often than its 1541 counterparts. I wonder if it the 1551 plastic is another composition that the plastic used for 1541 - or is it it just the black color ingredient that makes it more fragile ?

It may well be that it is more brittle. The black colour is probably carbon dust or something similar. :)
