So by the time I finish writing this on my new iPad in front of Joolz hootenanny on the tv it will be 2012.

First off - Happy New Year!

2011 saw a lot happen on our wee corner of the web. Of course things were bought and sold and good folks were made happy by all of the retro goodness and support from our members but it was also a year where some of our members lost those close to them; had scary health scares; lost their jobs and had some days and nights of general horribleness! BUT, we also saw a healthy amount of sheer Awesomeness!

We had great news of impending births; members helping each other "over and above the cause"; plenty of selfless acts of generosity; NEW "retro" technology was made available to us; we attended an awesome replay event again this year; we saw probably the youngest ever kid with an accellerated a600 (phipsy's boy); new jobs were obtained; fantastic guides on how to do stuff were created; gaming competitions were won and lost and MJnurney did us proud with his great posts in general chat forum and overall we were just blooming awesome!

So before I get all stereotypically Scottish and blub into my whiskey about how brilliant everyone is I just wanted to say thank you to all my fellow amibayers for just being there and being a big part of my 2011!

Bring on 2012! If it's half as good as 2011 I'll be happy!

Looking back, there has been an absolute load of events over the year. But I think you covered most of them with that post buddy, Nice one.
I look forward to what is still to come.

It's been a great year on here.
Looking back on all have got from here, I'd like to say thanks to those people.

I thought 2010 was the record year, but 2011 was even better.
I don't think however 2012 is going to top 2011 :-D

But will see, I hope everyone has a good 2012

I only can say A BIG THANK YOU TO AMIBAY :thumbsup::thumbsup: Great help, great friends. Just a great forum:bowdown::bowdown:

Amibay has certainly grown in 2011 and I'm sure 2012 will be a great year, hopfully we can hold our own Amibay event where we can show off our machines, hack away and geenerally have a royal laugh.

Thanks all & Happy New Year

It really is a community i'm proud to be a part of.

Happy New Year Guys

This forum always amazes me with the members and there kindness because when i started the whole help my local hossy you all gave and made a lot of kids happy.

Also the amount of support everyone shows to one another is a fine example of how people should be to one another in general.

As for new hardware there is been a massive amount brought to the forefront and I was more than happy with the amount of new games for old systems. Namely the ZX Spectrum because I still cant believe there was over 20 to 30 new games and most of them were top notch titles.

All i can end with is Happy New Year to everyone on the best god damn forum ever on the internet.

1st forum for a good few hears I've stuck around and plan to contribute more in the future. Not since amigagames.co. Have I felt so attached to a community ;)

Here's to a good 2012 :D

I'm writing this with a hang over John but I hope you and everyone else here has a wonderful 2012 ... Things can only get better !

Thanks for mentioning my endless posting in general , generally about nonsense but fun I hope and I hope you guys enjoy reading and pulling me to bits in them.

Lol nice post John :-)

Scotthis Whisky... Single Malt or one Good Blended..... I just :inlove: it.... :D

Happy New Year again my dear AmiFriends. It's an Honour to be part of this Community.

I hope 2012 will be a great "Retro-Year"

A quick look back at 2011.....

Well, it's no exaggeration to say that a lot happened, both good and bad.

Good stuff included the fact that after four years, we have the thick end of 5,000 members :wooha:. Some of the AmiBay crew attended Replay and a great time was had by all (note to self: book the weeks off around Replay 2012, so I don't get sucked into work-related stuff again).

Other good stuff involved lots of new retro hardware being developed for our ageing machines, which is brilliant when you consider that some of the machines we love and cherish are coming up to 30 years old and more. :)

We brought the VIP members more into the day-to-day running and decision-making of the site and it's been a resounding success. We intend to do more along these lines during 2012. :)

No-so good stuff involved health scares for some of the site staff and their loved ones, and I am glad that the people involved are still here and are recovering. :(

What is clear is that AmiBay has become firmly established as a site supporting the retro comuting scene at a global level and all of us on the staff are awestruck as to how successful the site has become. Long may it continue!!

Another good thing about this forum is that it maybe for Amiga's but it also covers other machines which is great for everyone.

Another good thing about this forum is that it maybe for Amiga's but it also covers other machines which is great for everyone.

It started off as an Amiga-centric site, but there has been a definite shift towards other systems which I am chuffed about personally.
A lot of the staff have interests in systems other than Amiga's too. Features and discussions about your favourites are certainly something we encourage as much as possible.
As long as it's retro, it's in. :)

Awesome Amibay

Awesome Amibay

Nobody has a better community for help, advice, hard to find bits and bobs, mega projects and could go on and on, but instead I would like to dedicate this little song to all at Amibay...........
