3 1/2 Disk Drives for Amiga (PC modded).

Hi.

I have some Samsung disk drives from pcs modded for use with the Amiga series.

They replaces an internal drive, as they are configured as DF0:

Unmounted, cleaned, modded, mounted again, and tested ok with an Amiga 600

I have around 10 pcs...









(Listed on others forums too).

Maybe as the amiga disks doesn't have the hd hole, they work ok.

1581 disk drives are said to use the same type of drives as Amiga 500. Will these work in a 1581 Commodore disk drive ?

Sorry, but I don't know... I don't have a 1581 to test them. If they're using the same drive, they should, but I can't assure you...

Will they work in an A4000? So if they are HD drives, will they work with both DD and HD amiga disks?
What's the size? Slim 3,5" (2,5 cm high) or the higher ones (3,1 or something cm)?

They are probably HD drives, but they can only be used with DD disks when used with the Amiga. To support Amiga HD format, you need a drive that can spin at half speed, and I think it is only the Chinon FZ-357A that can do that. If the HD sensor was not disabled, you will also need to cover the HD hole in the floppy before you can use them as 880kB disks.

And since they work in a 600, they should work in all other Amiga models, including the 4000.
