Now withdrawn as I'm going to have another go with this damn thing.
Giving up my 386 project as though it was working fine last week with a GUS Max, SB2 and SW60XG, today after messing about troubleshooting my KVM setup I found the hard drive seemed to spin up but not get recognised. Could be a number of things, but from experience it's likely to be some sort of contact or connection issue. Last straw for me I'm afraid, it's tempting to kick it to pieces but instead I thought I'd offer someone else the life-enhancing experience of playing with this vintage PC hardware.
I'm pulling out everything I can re-use, however unlikely that feels right now, and putting the following lot of vintage PC gear up for sale. Prefer to sell as one bundle because if more or less any of it sells I won't be able to use the rest of it and I have a feeling I won't be passing this way [386s/486s] again:
Asus ISA386C motherboard with manual and battery in an external holder thingy, oh and a 386DX33 processor
Diamond Speedstar ISA graphics card [Tseng ET4000-something chipset]
Diamond Stealth Pro ISA graphics card [some S3 chipset]
Interface card with floppy drive, hard drive, serial [for mouse] and I think parallel connectors, I think this is a Winbond card
This will give you a basic 386 setup, you just need to add 30-pin RAM, sound cards, drives, case and PSU. I've had this system running Windows 3.1 and indeed Windows for Workgroups 3.11, as well as the usual DOS 5 and DOS 6.22. Supposedly with enough RAM you can get 95 running on it but opinions vary about the usefulness or indeed sense in doing so.
Looking for £ plus post [at cost] and packing [I may need to buy bubble wrap and anti-static bags], Paypal gift only, buyer pays all fees.
If anyone wants less than the full bundle then I am open to selling the mainboard, cpu and a graphics card for £, or 1 of the graphics cards for £. Plus p&p, other conditions as above.
