State of the Art and 9 Fingers are still top of the tops for me, probably for nostalgic reasons. I still remember how my jaw dropped when I saw SotA for the very first time.
I had looooong demo watching pause since I sold my 500 back there in 1995. Now I bought myself 1200 and am trying to find some good demos but almost everything I find is for 060. :(
Be Kool Fool is my favorite from the modern era but I saw just a few and I'm looking forward to see what else is worth downloading. You hit the right spot with this thread. (y)

Lech is a great demo I still watch it every now and then. Other obvious ones are Desert Dreams, Technological Death, Jesus On E's and later on Rise off the top of my head.

There are some great demos that can work nice with 68030. Have you checked www.pouet.net ?

My Kingdom, Smoke Bomb, Sunglasses at Night, Elektroboy Inside, Jesus Christ Motocross, Nexus 7 etc.

Check this list for AGA demos:
http://www.pouet.net/prodlist.php?order=thumbup&platform[]=Amiga+AGA&page=1

Check this list for OCS/ECS demos:
http://www.pouet.net/prodlist.php?order=thumbup&platform[]=Amiga+OCS/ECS&page=1

I'm quite sure you'll find some of them stunning. Enjoy :)

Thanks but I'm already using pouet.net. That's where 060 demos come from. :)
I have no problems with WHDLoad demos downloaded in a single pack, they all work fine. But 030 demos downloaded from pouet.net crash with 8000 000b error which seems to be some sort of unrecoverable emulation library error. Not all of them crash but most of them do. Don't know if it matters but I don't have a FPU and I'm using ClassicWB 3.1. There is only 68040.library installed. I guess I need 68030.library to handle missing instructions but can't find one on aminet.

Installed MMUlib by hand following the guide.
This resulted in ACATune misidentifying ACA 1233 40 MHz as ACA1230 28 MHz.

Tried bunch of demos. Most of them are from this page:
http://www.pouet.net/prodlist.php?type[0]=demo&platform[0]=Amiga+AGA&page=1&order=views

Here are the results:

victoria
- requires 060, running anyway
- the folowing is displayed:
"using 020/030 routines
loading and precalcing..."
- 8000000b (error)

pwc-tdsc
- unknown requirements
- intro runs but after exiting with LMB it goes into infinite reset loop
- three finger salute results in 8000000b guru

chrysler
- requires 060, running anyway
- it works! (but slow)

eld-sotd
- unknown requirements
- 8000000b (error + guru)

eld_wcip_final
- unknown requirements
- 8000000b (error + guru)

eph-lux-v11
- unknown requirements
- 8000000b (error + guru)

gtn-lns-SmokeAndMirrors
- unknown requirements
- 8000000b (error + guru)

hex_pistols
- requires 060, running anyway
- 8000000b (error + guru)

hjb-prototype1-final
- requires 060+FPU, running anyway
- 8000000b (error + guru)

JesusChr
- requires 030+FPU, running anyway
"using 020/030 routines
error: fpu required (if you have 040/060, run setpatch first)"
- kudos for hardware detection and graceful exit (y)

lapsuus
- requires 060, running anyway
"This program requires a math co-processor"
- kudos for hardware detection and graceful exit (y)

lns_gtn-ht_final
- unknown requirements
- 8000000b (error + guru)

mwi-kioea_final
- requires 060, 80 MHz recommended, running anyway
- static gfx is shown and nothing happens

nell
- requires 68020+FPU, 68060 is recommended
- 8000000b (error + guru)

nexus7
- unknown requirements
- it works

sgp-sgr2
- requires 060, running anyway
- it works! (but slow)

smokebomb
- unknown requirements
- it works

stercus_accidit
- requires 060, running anyway
- 8000000b (error + guru)

Spb-NK
- requires 060, running anyway
- it works but slow, after "we are spaceballs, you are not" it's black screen with music (probably 8000000b in the background)

sw-eph-kvg-rno
- unknown requirements
- 8000000b (error + guru)

tbl-magia
- requires 020+FPU, 060 is recommended
- 8000000b (error only, won't reboot)
- three finger salute results in "no signal" and normal boot to WB (watching LEDs)
- another one fixes it

tbl-silkcutfinal
- requires 680x0, 060 is recommended
- 8000000b (error + guru)

tbl-starstruck-partyversion
- requires 060
- 8000000b (error + guru)

traction_pip
- unknown requirements
- it works but has 2 FPS max
- Amiga is slowed down to a crawl after exiting with LMB

eld-lightshaft_party_version
- unknown requirements
- "This program requires a math co-processor"
- kudos for hardware detection and graceful exit (y)

Some that should be working, don't work. Some that shouldn't be working, do work. I haven't watched to the end those that require 060 and do work, I watched them for less than a minute. They would surely crash once the 060 specific code or FPU code is reached.

Sorry to hear that, but all of these demos which give you guru require 060. There's nothing you can do about it apart from getting 060 or at least 040.
There are some good demos which run nice with 030.
Here are some examples:

- SmokeBomb, Fetish, Fetish 2, April in Paris, Nexus 7 (needs 020 to run), My Kingdom, and lots more.

Keep checking the list. I'm sure you'll find some nice prods. You've checked only the first page so page. I encourage you to check OCS/ECS prods as well.

Told you almost everything I find requires 060. :) I already have hundreds of older demos in WHDLoad, they work fine.

How do you know CPU requirements if txt/nfo file doesn't specify it? I wish there is a CPU filter on pouet.net so I can browse just 000/020/030 stuff.

Most demos from the first page require either 040 or 060. It's not that everything requires 060. It's not like that.

Yes, of course you have :) If you want more you should check here:

http://www.pouet.net/prodlist.php?platform[0]=Amiga+OCS/ECS&page=1&order=thumbup

and here are the Whdload slaves:

I have been back in the Amiga community for more that 10 years after a break. I have checked most of the good demos on different Amiga platforms e.g. A600 with 020/030, A500+ with 68010, A1200 with 020/030/040/060, BlizzardPPC, A4000 with 040/060 and CSPPC. It comes with time and experience ;) Personally I use my Amigas mainly for watching demos.

I'm trying to buy a 1260 at 66 MHz or more. How much would I be missing if I get a 1260 at 50 MHz and try to run TBL demos on it? What framerate difference are we talking about?
