Hi,

I know that there are quite a few networking guys on this forum and I'm hoping that some of you may have access to a spares/graveyard pile, as I need a few parts for a Dell PowerEdge 2850 rack server that I am tinkering with.

It wasn't working at all, it was a heap of bits and only had one (non working) CPU when I acquired it, but it's (sort of) alive now that I've installed two new 3Ghz Xeons, a heatsink for the second CPU, some memory and a power supply, but there are a few faults I need to fix and some missing parts I am on the hunt for.

The parts I'm looking for are; one of the hot-swap fans, the LCD display board assembly (This one barely works and all I can see is occasional dots scrolling past - not very useful to read error messages), and a couple of hot-swap drive bays to take LVD SCSI hard drives (they don't have to have drives in, to save weight).

The fans and drive bays are common to a lot of Dell models.

If you have any of these, please let me know. Thanks.

Hi,

I have 5 x 36GB 10K SCSI disks in caddies (from a Dell PowerVault 220S) that should fit your PowerEdge - you should check though. The drives were working fine when I removed them about 6 months ago to install higher capacity ones.

I don't really want to split the drives and caddies, but you can have however many of the 5 you want for £10 each plus postage if you're interested?

regards
Dave
