A1000 Daughterboard bypass/ substitute?

Is there a substitute or a way to bypass the A1000 daughterboard? I have an A1000 that is missing it and seems that the board is unobtanium. Thanks!
 
Can you post a photo of your board?

If your Amiga is a "real" PAL A1000 with onboard ramchips instead of the mezzanine daughterboard, then I'm afraid you're unlucky. If the daughterboard used to be present and is now gone, I would seriously consider the Rejuvenator.

It is definitely an ntsc, has the pins sticking up for the daughter board. Where are rejuvenators available or do I just need to keep an eye on here and eBay for them to pop up?

I'd keep an eye on this thread and hope they become available again. Or build one yourself. They are really not that difficult to solder and besides it will save you a lot of bucks, as a Rejuv is only about $70 worth of components. I've built two rejuvs in the past and they both worked first time.

As for your NTSC board, is it currently working without daughterboard or has it been sitting there, waiting to be fixed? There is a way to get things running without daughterboard, but it is quite a lot of work and it involves desoldering several chips and transferring one or two original PALs over from the daughterboard to the mainboard below. Also, KS 1.3 needs to be programmed into four 27512 EPROMS. Full instructions over here.

Pro: Kickstart in ROM, no daughterboard required.
Con: No longer usable with Rejuvenator, unless you restore the current situation.

Thanks for the great info. I have two a1000s and one is missing the daughter board. I transferred it to the other one to test it and it only works with the daughter board attached. Do you have the parts list and instructions to build your own rejuvenator?
 
Thanks again. Unfortunately that may as well be a foreign language to me. I have no Idea were to start with any of that! I also looked at the kickstart eliminator instructions and it seems that the daughterboard is still required for that operation?
 
I have no experience with the Kickstart Eliminator, but I do remember most of the instructions in the PDF from when I removed the daughterboard of my own A1000 back in the late 80s. I followed an article in a magazine that I can't find anymore. The difference between "my" hack and the Kickstart Eliminator was that mine was specifically meant to remove the daughterboard. The Kickstart Eliminator appears to be making the RAM on the daughterboard available as 256k of extra (slow)mem.

Will have another look in my mancave later on and let you know.
