Afternoon all,

As I continue planning my A1200 project, one of things I was looking to do was to get a Subway to give me USB ports in the machine.

I was wondering what kinds of peripherals are supported, either in WB3.1 or 3.9.

For example, can the Subway USB stack support a wireless mouse, or perhaps a wireless game controller? What about USB hard disks or DVD Drives?

Thanks in advance!

You don't need usb hub to use USB mouse, all You need - is TOM mouse adapter, it gives You a possibility to use wireless mouse & keyboard...

I have seen that, but I'm keen not to have lots of things sticking out the back of the machine - If I can get away with smaller usb dongles for both mouse and controller, I'd prefer that.

I have a Thylacine in my A3000, but as Poseidon is the de facto USB stack then functionality should be similar with A1200 usb solutions. My experience tells me that:

1. USB mice and keyboard work very well (everything I tried worked, but I haven't tried many!), but of course only under system friendly conditions (i.e. you need to be running the usb stack). I notice a system slowdown when using any USB peripheral, but I guess this boils down to the slow/low cost Thylacine card, and is not a universal limitation of Amiga usb.

2. USB memory sticks work, but haven't tried HDDs or DVDs. I would expect them to work, but speed may be an issue depending on your hardware solution of choice (and probably your CPU). With Thylacine zorro (one of the slowest, if not *the* slowest USB hardware solution) even my 28Mhz 68040 chokes everytime a usb memory stick is inserted.

Subways are more and more hard to get.

I have a RapidRoad. I am quite happy with it including USB drives and input-peripherals and a USB2Ethernet - Adapter

Cheers,
McT
