Many thanks to a true Champion in the Amiga community Rob (Daedalus) for diagnosing the problem. Also thanks to Chris (Solidcore) for his ongoing support. Much appreciated :)

yeah I knew it was something to do with the diode or battery but didn’t realise the damn parts were wrong in the last order *sigh* didn’t notice when ordering those parts other week that they weren’t the same as last order. small fix I guess. Glad you had rob to resolve the issue and bring it to my attention . I believe only a couple of the most recent cards were effected therefor those who don’t have time incrementing after power off should simply buy the part for peanuts and carefully swap it over, postage is overkill for such a basic part , perhaps slow post would be okay . Could send effected people a few of these in envelopes .

Here’s two Self repair methods that come to mind :

, blob the diode with plenty of solder then touch between all three points quickly and push the part away to side with tweezers . Replace New part.

Alternatively hot air the diode for a small time , tweezers remove when it gives play , add new part if left with enough solder to hot air it on or solder it back on.

Please for the love of god never cut a flat package component off the board with a knife lol.

Update:

This board is now DISCONTINUED until further notice.

I thought this may be useful for people who have bought the card. Apologies if its against forum rules too :)
I got a backplate of the below seller on Ebay (not my auction) for the very reasonable price of £3.99 good quality and fit!

No it's fine, feel free to advertise such enhancements for your a1200 relative to the 1208. It's a nice 3d printed panel.

I must also remind everyone that the source for the drivers and the HDL for the hardware itself is in fact GPLv3 Open-source here: https://github.com/mikestir/k1208-drivers

Improvements that I'd like to see in the future would be:

- SD driver : Larger file size support for FAT driver, this may require overhaul of scsi.device and fat95.device. Also ability to manage the SD and create partitions with the scsi api /hdtoolbox.

- Ethernet driver : properly disengage tcp/ip so that whdload games work. This happens with both miami and roadshow but seems to be a problem with our driver, a little bit of research involved and some C programming experience.

If anyone is interested in the BOM, and bare PCB's I will be happy to accommodate you (with an upfront payment - delivered directly to your door from china). However I do not supply a1200 connectors which can be sourced elsewhere.

I'm interested in a bare PCB and BOM. Is there a minimum order if they're coming from a PCB manufacturer in China? I only need one but I guess the cost wouldn't be prohibitive to have to buy more.

It'll be 5 units minimum from jlcpcb, but 10 is around the same price so I usually go for that. See price for '4 layer' 100x100, coloured options add 2-3 days, green is the fastest. Black is hardest to diagnose if you have issues so I don't recommend that one, Red / Green is a great choice in my opinion.

PM me if you want me to get that sorted for you.

Also, is there any reason the card was discontinued? Should I be concerned or was it just a matter of less interest? Thanks!
