A3000 no mouse movement

a long time ago in an Amiga, far far way...

Here is a little problem that i didnt expect , my A3000 popped its power pack in the summer and i half converted an matx psu into the little amiga psu box. well i finished it today !. When i used the Amiga 3000 last, (july 2012) it worked just fine until the psu died of course so i sourced an matx and added a -5v regulator today as the matx psu didnt have -5v (Delta matx PSU)

anyway...

i have spent a few hours converting the psu and fitting it in the 3000 and then spent an age trying to find screws to fit it.. the 3000 arrived to me with about 4 screws in the whole system

anyway that done , i booted in to work bench and then found the mouse doesnt move. left & right button work but no (or very tiny) movement is possible.

so its stripped down again completely , yes its had battery spillage but only minor and someones cleaned it up in the past.

so on to the mouse.

ive resoldered the joy ports and tested continuity , changed paula and denise but no joy ... i'll dig out the schematics tomorrow and look.

yes mouse tested on another machine and another mouse tried too

i'll just check the voltages..

next culprit ? U401 74LS157

im only getting 3.3v at the 5v pin on Joy0 so it could be something to do with it...

oh yes i do , i have one on a dead A2000

no the battery killed the cpu tracks on the old 2000

repair traces or was it the cpu as well?

its a shame as the 74 series parts are pretty easy to get i think.

yep maybe , i may have another play with the 2000 one day..

but i pinched the 74 off of an A500 1.3 in the end. now that board isnt worth saving

well that was a roaring success , the 3000 wont boot now - black screen or with 2.04 roms a white screen....

it has done this in the past before but it may be something ive done grrrrr
