Hi guys and gals!

I have a bit of foo money to spend on my miggy habit and am looking to get into an AGA machine. After some good advice I've decided to go with the A4000D. If you have one that you would like to sell, please think of me.

PROS:
1. I am not a "collector" (NTTIAWWT! :) ). I will use the computer as often as my A2000 (which currently is daily).
2. I will try my best to keep whatever habits you have developed with it. If you have read it Kierkegaard every night for the past few years, I will continue to do so, unless you are one of those Hegelian followers....

Caveats:
I'd like to keep the price around 400ish on the top end to include shipping. This might exclude everyone and anyone, but unfortunately I am a Yank, and since my country's bankers have decided to tank the dollar I will have trouble affording the UK, Canadian, or Euro A4000Ds. Base model is fine, although I'd like to have all its plasticky bits and input devices (not absolutely necessary, as I can get a 2000 to 4000 kbd adapter and plan on getting a cocolino anyway). PAL vs NTSC is a non-issue as well, assuming that you can hold down the mouse buttons and pick what you want. Keyboard in English a plus. Of course I'd prefer less, but that seems decently reasonable for a non-tower 4000.

Anyways, thanks for reading this, and if you have an A4000D just laying about not putting in a fair days work, think of sending it my way!

Ed has one of these as well. Let me talk to him about it and see what I can come up with.

I talked to Ed and he has a base A4000D with Keyboard and Mouse (probably going to black though) 2MB Chip, 16MB Fast, 3.1 ROMS, Ed believes it has a 4GB hard drive in it, if not, I'll add one. Has a CD-ROM drive. He is willing to sell it for 350USD plus shipping. I can take pictures of it tomorrow when I go to help with the boxing and shipping of the A1200 for LamboJay. I ran Shipping costs for the the approximate weight of 35lbs (Ed has shipped a lot of these and pretty much knows the weight by heart) and shipping would be 43.15 through UPS Ground, or 84.35 through USPS. If you would like a quote for Fed Ex let me know and I will get that for you too.

If TheBilgeRat is not interested in the A4K can I be second in line?

Not sure if asking this violates any AmiBay rule. If so, please delete this. :coffee:

Well Ed has another one that would be more expensive, as it's decked out with some stuff, but if he wants to sell it, I will post a thread on it specifically.

You should really post your own wanted thread as this is the only way you can give and receive feedback

Alrighty, pm sent with a follow up.

Okay I took some pictures. As you can see attached. I want to point out we were wrong on the ROMs, as it only has 3.0 ROMs. The case is Dirty, and I will clean the case as best I can. It is an A4000Dcr Rev D motherboard, and looks to be in pretty nice shape to me. It has a coin Lithium battery and the chip ram in integrated into the motherboard. It has an A3640 Rev 3.1 card as well for the processor. The CD ROM appears to be a 40x speed CD ROM drive. Please take a look and tell me what you think.

Nathan

-edit- To point out I forgot to take pictures of the Keyboard and Mouse, but I can do so if you wish. Just let me know.

Thanks Nathaniel! the fascia looks great- was it the metal casing that was dirty?

EDIT: Did the mouse/kbd end up being black?

We can supply a beige mouse. I didn't take a look at the keyboard however. The mouse wouldn't be a new style mouse, it would be an alfa data mouse. The keyboard should be a standard A4000D keyboard. I can ask Ed tomorrow.

Mods. thank you for marking this as found. Package arrived 3 days after ship in mint condition. The computer was extremely well packed. Computer was exactly as described, except for an awesome color keyboard and a NIB mouse. I would highly recommend anything Nathaniel is selling, as he will go the extra distance to ship something that is quality. He even refunded some money as the shipping wasn't as much as he'd thought.

Thank you so much Nathaniel!

I am glad you are happy with the machine. The keyboard that you got with the machine is the keyboard that went with the machine. It had the keycaps changed out for an editing program that is on the hard drive. I don't know the name of it. That machine was Ed's backup editing station until he got a backup A4000T, he then transferred the editing cards into the tower. Please let me know if you have any questions about the machine. I will do my best to answer them for you.

Nathan
