Hello,

Well, I've assembled a few Amiga systems that may be of interest for those of you that enjoy borrowing ideas. Most notably an original 1500 checkmate, or my 3000Ts, but that'll perhaps be the topic of other threads. Right now, let's talk about my main Amiga.

- 4000Tx rev 1 from Hese.
- No memory onboard, but instead a led debug module that allows me to know what the Amiga is doing at all times.
- Cyberstorm PPC 604e@360Mhz + 060 rev6 at 60Mhz. 128MB (4x32MB simms) of Kingston KTK-PH560/32 50ns memory.
- The Cyberstorm SCSI has an ACARD 7730 boasting 30MB/s.
- Aorus 1200 PSU. Overkill? Well, yes and no. I've lost machines due to living in remote areas with a fluctuating voltage. This one is especially sensitive (even to static), and shows the power consumption at all times. In case of problem, I can immediately check the voltages and amps: it's literally written.
- ZZ9000 rev1 with int fix, and the Ax audio module. I've done my best to hide the cables - it has a voltage fix performed by Mntre themselves.
- Kickflash OS4. Not for the OS4, heh. Pretty handy and it comes with a clockport - which is interesting for Akuhei purposes.
- XSurf100 with it's rapidroad. Nah it didn't burn. Yes I happen to hotplug. D-Link makes nice 7 port powered USB2.0 hubs that won't flush power back into the mobo.
- Nec 2190 UXP screen. It's sharp and colorful. Alternatively I use an Eizo Flexscan EV-2450; that is both extremely energy efficient and switches to eco modes on it's own if nobody's standing in front (no need for a blanker!) - it's fluid, too.
- Roland MT32. Its audio gets mixed with the Amiga audio further down the line by some Nikko Beta 40 preamp.
- Honey Bee joypad and Competition pro stick. The CP stick is mostly because it's iconic, I'm much TOO used to the Honey Bee to even consider anything else on Amiga. I have a bunch of them and know where to source the parts if needed. With my kid, I have to repair one or another once in a while.
- Elbox FastATA. Well, yeah. Took me a while to source black cables that would be thin and delicate enough not to bend anything between the Zorro slots. Dell PowerEdge 2950 cables are great for that, sadly they only allow one device per cable. It still suit my needs.
- IcyBox hardware raids.
- The onboard IDE is fitted with a 64GB DOM module with a 060 optimized OS 3.2.2.1, acting as a recovery in case of problem.
- The Lamptron toy/screen monitors the temperatures. Especially good in summer, it still finds some use even in winter between the Zync module and the PPC/060. Sadly the default ARGB led fan presets are SO lame that I've had to use a spare Arctic cooling A-RGB LED controller with it's remote control, plugged to the Lamptron.
- Internal USB systems are powered using a NZXT internal hub (without the shell. It also exists with a shell).
- For network needs, I use a spare Raspberry Pi that does the time server, DNS and will soon be doing the AmiFox proxy.
- All is using SSDs. The IDE to SATA conversions are done using some rare Kawaii IDE converters, that are solely sold from Japan. I've never had any issue with those.
- The keyboard is from my CDTV, using a discrete cable converter.
- All the cables are black but one USB for the Epson Perfection 1650 scanner which is a bit farther. I use FxScan, it's awesome.
- I have a USRobotics pro modem, that I plan to use for Tx/Rx purposes. If you're into HAM, please lend me a hand, I'd like to do some packet radio with my machine (already have some packet radio hardware).
- I use a Buffalo n600 with a DD-WRT firmware for AmyStrom Wifi switches, in a secondary network.
- The case is a Thermaltake view 37 RGB. Whilst the original large fans were beautiful, they also were too thick and the stickers weren't well centered. I've replaced them with Cooler Master MasterFan MF200R that are much thinner and pretty silent.
- The keyboard is hidden underneath the screen by some glass bridge made in Germany. It's a really nice little item.
- I use a noname Italian all black midi interface with in-out-thru.
- The Mouse is HID2AMI, Italian stuff as well. It's really awesome for wheel mice.
- I also have other USB toys, like a VAIO floppy drive - but really hardly use it.
Ah and I forgot the Wacom USB tablet.

I plan to use it not just for my servers, but also long range i2c and power control, and to do some coding - aside of retrogaming. At 360Mhz, Mame is really playable for most games, and WHD makes everything else easy. I sometimes play Quake 2 but I'm not a huge fan of it.

Hope this fuels some ideas around.

And i thought i had a neat Amiga 4000 (see signature). We have some stuff in common though such as USB floppy drive, Roland MT32, ZZ9000 and NXZT USB internal hub.

I have a few CSMkII too. But I couldn't resist the CSPPC ;d. Interesting job on your 4000... The USBs below the thin CD player is a nice touch. I keep my 4000 as basic as possible from outside, I really love the design on the 4000 - a pity they've failed the thermics.

very nice. i really need to dust off my tower and do some upgrades.
I have a zz9900 on order.

question.

How come you are running the xsurf too? i thourght the lan and usb on the 9900 would do?

Hello Bazzaq. Thanks. Well, the X-Surf speed is a tad faster than the zz9000 (well, it was last I've checked, which was several months ago. Didn't check the speed with 1.13). But moreover, I need the USB/RapidRoad. I'd go for an E3B Deneb, but couldn't put my hands on one.. Last I've seen one it was more expensive than a Repulse...
Ah yes, I use both ethernets too. For two different networks. One is for internet and linked to a Netgear AX5400 Nighthawk, the other one is plugged to the Buffalo router for the wifi switches
Tell me you still have your scouser accent? ;D

Ah, so i am in the process of stripping down my 4000t, it needs a recap as the audio board seems to be playing up.

i have an xsurf and rapidroad that i was planning to put in with a picassoc iv, but then i went and bought the z9900 and thought that would replace them all.

I think its arriving next week, i i will have to make some decisions on way to go.

i will post some photos on here when i make it as tidy as yours :)

yes.. i am very scouse :)

4000Ts are awesome, glad that you're taking care of it.
And I went to the UoL for my Msc. Didn't really dig for Amiga users at that time tho.

Nice machine. The 4000TX is a really nice board. I have one built by Hese and going into a Fractal Define XL case similarly with Subway USB, ZZ9000, but with ReA4091 and multiple 15k SCSI drives along with a CF adapter boot drive together with custom sleeved blue/black cables and a BFG accelerator for 3.2.

Hello qz3fwd! Sure. Show us your job once it's done! My point with the Thermaltake always was to expose as much of the Amiga HW as possible. Otherwise I'd have used a Lian Li 011 XL ARGB, just like with my PC.
I'm not that much into SCSI drives and mechanical drives. It's usually noisy and the since the reliability of SSDs has been proven, which is especially true with PFS3 compensating some of the SSD flaws (such as poor error management on power failure/power off), I'd rather go for perhaps more expensive but silent SSDs in HW raid. I don't need extra high speed for music/images, where the FastATA does the job.

Yes I am also looking to show off the Amiga hardware therefore the tinted glass side. I ordered matching black Delock IDE to CF adapter and Sandisk 512GB CF to avoid the cheap chineseium knockoff CF adapters and ordered German quality Delocks from Amazon.de.

The U320 SCSI drives are way overkill but gave me an excuse to use the ReA4091’s Kazanov is building for me, plus I miss the whine of spinning rust. Boot volume will be on solid state storage.

Still need to find SCSI optical drive to go with Zip/Jaz drive and SCSI superDisk floppy drive.

Well, indeed, it's tinted. Very much so. You'll show me.
The Delock is a nice touch

Toll! There's even the sticker on buzzer option. I'm surprised they don't sell screws and double face tape as add-ons ;)
They do sell niche stuff. I love the sound cards and the music boxes too.

Another little detail, that may be of interest for @sampedenawa : We have a dutch group here called Action. They're selling HID2AMI v2 compatible laser mice for roughly 7€, of the brand Battletron, that feature integrated dpi speed changer, autofire - !!!, a robust wheel and an automated Led effect that doesn't burn the eyes at night.

WOW ! It's sooooo Amazing & Awesome !!! Can't imagine how much effort you put into it !

BTW: what is USB2HID you quoted ? -> "....The Mouse is USB2HID...." :)
