Hello there my fellow AmiBayers,
Just some house keeping, with this thread, taking some posts from sales threads that should be used for more common resource of knowledge for the A500.
As most know the Rev 5 and Rev 6A A500's came with a 1MB Agnus standard, thats to say the Agnus could address upto 1MB of chip - however using this requires some modification to the motherboard.
Also some CHIP BUS expansion boards utilize the port and generally the GARY IC to address upto 4MB of (SLOW) Fast RAM.
While the above is limited to common CHIP speeds (i.e. it wont speed up the processing) it does allow for more data to be loaded - which for using (loading) Larger games and WHDLoad it is invaluiable.
This thread is not a direct HOW-TO, more of a discussion and guide advice on existing knowledge.
@Bas
My friend, this is an intersting do-hickle, with a modified 1MB Rev6a it just Shadows the extra 512KB CHIP thats populated on the motherboard as the EXRAM (JP7A) is not cut, infact if the Rev6A mod has JP7A cut then you need to re-bridge it.
The manual suggests that you remove the extra ram and fit-it to the adapter.
lemmie see if I can up load the manual one sec - its very good reading =D
