Falling short of me comparing the two myself, I am wondering if the A500 keyboard membrane (31 pin type) pinout is the same as the A1200 keyboard membrane pinout? And as such, apart from the physical location differences, an A1200 keyboard should be able to be plugged into an A500 keyboard controller and work fine on an A500?

Yes i guess so, because the PCB membrane replacements are the same for A500 and A1200.

Thank you for the reply. But I highly doubt what you stated. No way "the pcb membrane replacements are the same".

I have seen those. A dual use membrane. Great idea. And while that is a good sign towards the pinouts being similar/very similar/probably the same, it doesn't show that they are the same. I would like to be confident they are the same.

AFAIK the pinouts are not the same on the A500 and A1200 keyboards.

The only way I can see to get around it i(without resorting to some serious hackery) s to use one of those hard keyboard membranes, as previous mentioned.

I have messaged Sordan, the maker of the dual membrane, and he has stated the A500 and A1200 membrane pinouts are electrically the same.

Sorry for reviving such an old thread, but I was thinking the other way round:

It does exist an adaptor -like 30€ or so- for connecting an A500 keyboard to an A1200, when what you really would need is to take out the A500 KB controller -the board with electronics the membrane is connected to- and use an extensor in the short membrane ribbon in order to connect it directly to the A1200 mainboard.

What do you think? 🤔

Saluditos,

Ferrán.
