Hello there my fellow forum chummies

I am attpemting to put a group-buy together for this item.

1.jpg

heres a luscious linkie

It may well be in kit form (to be built be either yourself / me or TC)

heres the therad on eab, http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=42262

All i am interested in at the moment is the numbers, who is interested and howmany,

This way i can get an expected cost per unit :)

If in kit form I do have a lot of reclaimed memory so this will reduce the cost significantly

so yes, if you are interested in joining in a group buy / purchase of these then please, post here / pm me or post on eab :)

thanks for reading :)

Re: A600 8mb Fast Ram: Group Buy

I will support the group buy by bying 1 unit although i currently dont own an amiga 600 :mrgreen:

Re: A600 8mb Fast Ram: Group Buy

Seeing as I just picked up an Amiga 600 yesterday, I would be greatly interested in one. Of course, it will greatly depend upon cost.

Thanks!

Heather

Re: A600 8mb Fast Ram: Group Buy

I would definitely be very interested in getting hold of one of these.

As you know there was my recent A600 project. At the moment it only has 2MB fast ram via a PCMCIA SRAM card, so being able to upgrade that to 8MB would be brilliant.

So count me in for 1 unit. And any cost savings, such as you building it from kit form would be great too.

One question. With this 8MB unit fitted does it conflict with the PCMCIA slot at all?

I hope not because it would then mean a network adapter could be added to the A600.

Re: A600 8mb Fast Ram: Group Buy

as far as i know the latest version can be configured such as thus

4MB (pcmcia friendly)
5.5MB (pcmcia friendly)
4MB + 1.5MB Slow (though not really slow) (pcmcia friendly)
8MB Not PCMCIA Friendly

this is selectable by jumper on installation, although a simple switch could be added externally.

[additional]

so far there is an interest in 22 units on eab alone, this is very good news indeed :)

insofar as getting them in kit form, I have a lot of compatible memory chips that I will happily donate to this project, this really will bring the price down a bit :)

I will also have a look at what other components I can donante to the project to further reduce the costs

Re: A600 8mb Fast Ram: Group Buy

Thanks for the info. Very useful to know. An external switch would be a cool feature. And using the jumper headers to connect a switch would be quite easy.

Re: A600 8mb Fast Ram: Group Buy

@all

As Zetro has stated above, I am fully behind this group buy & have offered my full technical services.

Oh & BTW I would like 1 Please

PS Zeets thanks for the pr0n, oops runny honey here we come :lol:

TC :mrgreen:

Re: A600 8mb Fast Ram: Group Buy

@TC

Thanks my friend, I am going toneed some help if this is all gonna be in kit form!! LOL

Re: A600 8mb Fast Ram: Group Buy

@Zetro

If we can only get them in kit form then so be it my friend I'm sure all these beautiful people on AmiBay will appreciate our soldering up & testing boards into the early hours :lol:

TC :mrgreen:

Re: A600 8mb Fast Ram: Group Buy

@Zetr0

How much do you think it would cost in kit form ? Would be a damn fine excuse for me to blow the dust of my soldering gear .... As i hardly ever have any real projects any longer these days ---

Re: A600 8mb Fast Ram: Group Buy

@adonay

going by the 2007 kit (thats PCB and programmed chip for auto adding of memory) it was $20

I believe I can donate the rest in terms of cpu sockets / memory and clenaing caps.

but with the volume of interest (around 30 units now) it may well be cheaper.

Re: A600 8mb Fast Ram: Group Buy

Z, just remember the 2007 version don't have the 4/8Mb selectable function. The PLD is proggramed once and them acts as 4 or 8Mb, no "slow RAM" option on this earlier board.

Only if you re-make the PLD code to achieve this.

LordV don't give me (neither to anyone I know) the code to run it as a 2008 version (4/5.5 - PCMCIA friendly/8Mb). :(

Re: A600 8mb Fast Ram: Group Buy

If I can get hold of a 600 I will deffo want one of these babies.

With that in mind put me down for one anyway, you never know when I'll get hold of one. :mrgreen:

Re: A600 8mb Fast Ram: Group Buy

OOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO........

Me want - priority one !!

Put me down for one please mate.

Re: A600 8mb Fast Ram: Group Buy

Hmmmmmmmm, might give me an excuse to dust off the a600 after all, better put me down for one. 8)

Re: A600 8mb Fast Ram: Group Buy

Count me in!!!!!!

Re: A600 8mb Fast Ram: Group Buy

Interested in one, too.

Making the board on Banana Land is prohibitive!

Don't need the RAM chips, I have a lot here. Programmed to 4Mb is more than OK for me. :wink:

The board will be cheaper than buying directly from Lord Vader?

Can we reserve some of the cash to send to him as a gift/thank you?

Re: A600 8mb Fast Ram: Group Buy

I have spoke to Acid rain and giving it some thought as to what we can do together to get this off the ground.

at the moment, theres about 40 units of interest, the more the cheaper :)

I have done some external calculations and it should be around $30 per unit, again this depends on components.
(the above includes dontated memory, and fabbrication time)

Could I be so bold as to ask if anyone here could ask on Amiga.org. I am not a member there for many reasons, (fear and loathing of trolls for one) however that doens't mean members should miss out. so if anyone is a member there could scout around for those that are interested and as them to post that interest here / eab or classic amiga.

Re: A600 8mb Fast Ram: Group Buy

I will announce the board on Brazilian groups, too! The more clients, the better!
