Hello everyone,

I have an Amiga 600 with the cool Kipper2k 4mb ram expansion that slots over the 68k cpu.

Problem is, no matter how hard I push it down, it always finds a way to dislodge itself. :picard

I remember the standard advice to be: "use a file to grind down the slot so it fits snuggly". I have filed the female slot on the expansion to the point that I fear there is so little plastic left I might break the slot. It fits for a moment, then creaks and cracks and eventually fails to make contact.

It is very frustrating, causing black screens, lockups and I fear it may ultimately damage the Amiga.

I have seen people using screws and fittings to fix it in place but there does not seem to be anywhere to screw it in place.

Any ideas or ready solutions (perhaps for a fitting mechanism of sorts?) that you can suggest will be very gratefully received!

I have seen fittings for vampires in A600s in thingyverse, maybe I can study them and adapt it.

I have seen other solutions for the A600 that fit on the 68k CPU too, but not sure how they are fixed in place. Any suggestions?

I have the 8MB version and don't remember having issues attaching it. Is it really pushed all the way in? There is a resistor, R102, next to the CPU and the expansion connector is basically touching it.

same issue here

4mb kipper2k

stays on for 5 mins until it lifts ( you can't see it move ) by a mm or two and then crashes, pushing down again gets it working again but you dont see it move just some pin contact noise.

I had the SAME issue with a vampire 600 on my last 600 so its problem to some A600's, either a worn or miss shaped 68000 cpu/pins or im just unlucky to get two A600 over cpu cards that both pop off.

Many thanks for the helpful replies,

Yes I'm pretty sure I manage to push it as far as it'll go, but it won't hurt to try again. May try some contact cleaner to temporarily lubricate and perhaps clean the contacts.

It's a relief to know others have had similar issues. May try it out on a spare A600mb I have...if it stays put there I'll simply swap them over.

Great to have a few things to try, thanks so much chaps!!
