A600 memory expansion options...confused noob :(

hi all

want to jump the RAM on my system up to 2mb but noticed there are a few options

what are the benefits of the a604 boards and i guess more importantly can you get just the vanilla ram expansions anymore and are they any cheaper than the a604 route?

The obvious benefits of having an A604n:

1. You can buy them brand new!

2. The cost of a new one is the same for an old A600 ram expansion on ebay, which more often than not has a leaking battery to contend with and the price, can actually work OTT if you find the two Amiga traders on that auction site. It just makes financial sense to head straight for Amigakit or Vesalia.de for a new one. Or put an advert on this forum for a used A604. Prices are always way more saner here regarding second hand

3. The A604n has a clock port!

4. It can acommodate an ECS Indivision which means lots of modern monitor goodness.

5. It has a standard clock battery which can be replaced and has zero chance of leaking!

The A604n takes your graphics memory from 1MB to a total of 2MB and gives you a clockport. You can add an additional Real Time Clock upgrade if you wish too keep the correct time/date on files.

We also stock other A600 upgrades such as:

Performance-wise there is no difference, so unless you can find a cheap old one, I would just go for the A604n and be happy with that.
