ADF Naming conventions?

Hey guys,

So I was going over several sites to find some adf files to play around converting to disk and trying them out on my A1000. Snce one I downloaded didn't work (got a xxx is not an executable) error from the image I used, I wanted to get a different version.

However I'm trying to understand the naming convention for the files and can't find it anywhere :(

I did find for other tupes of roms, and such, but none have the specifics used in the amiga fes, like: cr OCL PNA QTX, etc
Does anyone know about this and if there's a list anywhere?
 
ADF stands for Amiga Disk File, you will need a tool like AmigaKit's EasyADF in order to tranform them into real floppies.

The other you see in the filenames are the cracking groups, for instance QTX is Quartex etc.
 
Hi,

ADF images are an image of an Amiga floppy and have to be unpacked back to a blank floppy disc using a utility like ADFBlitzer or EasyADF, assuming you are using a real Amiga.

Phantom is right; the main disc image files are usually ADF (Amiga Disk File) or DMS (Disk Masher archive).

PDX, QTX, FLT etc. stand for Paradox, Quartex, Fairlight etc., i.e. the people that originally released the disk.

Yes, the first part I knew. Maybe I should have explained myself better but when I said I received that error, it was actually after converting the adf file todisk, then running it on the Amiga, and then seeing the intro but when the game is supposed to load it does that, which is why I was searching for an alternate version.

Sadly I see all versions are cracked by the same group, but there are alternates, s gonna try one of those... just for the record the game was World Cup 90 by Genias. :thumbsup:

Thaks guys, yeah I see most of them have nothing (original disks) or 2cr" for cracked and the group as you tell me, and some have alternate versions (a, a2,a34, etc). so I assume "t" is trainer? (and the group that did the trainer?) And what would [h group] and [f group] be..?:unsure:

Funny enough (you saw/commented on my other thread) that's exactly what I was trying to find out and what I was loading up workbench for! :D

Writing posts and trying games I didn't even do that (will do so now). But It does have an expansion connected in the front, so I'll venture a guess of 512Kb... Will know in a few mins.
 
I've found that other people had problems with games cracked by OCL (Oracle), so I think that you have to find another version of the this rare football game.

Could I suggest that you pop over to English Amiga Board (http://eab.abime.net) and ask about the other versions of this game on there?

It's just that these cracked image files are classed as 'warez' and we don't want anyone posting links to TOSEC disks on here, as it's against our site rules.

Yes, gonna try. I think I even sent myself via e-mail one once, but of course now I have to remember from what accounts... :roll: so far, only found ocl thugh... :(

I might have another version on my disks, but it will take some days to check it as I'm away from home this period.
