My old trusty Elbox 1208 has developed a bit of battery fuzz. What is the best way to clean these barrel batteries so they don't get worse and corrode the board? Thanks for any advice!

There is only one option: remove and replace with the same (new one) or CR2032 Lithium with diode - search google for explanation.

Yup, looks like you got to it in time. To be sure, I would soak the board in distilled vinegar to neutralize the alkaline, rinse it with distilled water, and then dry it out completely before replacing the battery and reinstalling.

Thanks all. I'm glad you think I have caught it in time. I will remove it.

IMHO the battery isn't that important to replace... so you won't have RTC in the amiga and your files will have the wrong date , big deal  - unless ofcourse you still use it for something serious ... I'd just remove the battery and wouldn't bother adding a CR2032 mod to the ramcard

Yes I think I will do that. My soldering skills are very poor and I only use the board as a test board for when I don't want accelerated mig.
