It is with great sadness that I report the passing away of an AmiBay member during his sleep last night. My good friend 'Oggy' of over 20 years was found deceased in bed by his carer this morning. He was 55 years old, not a good innings.....it seems that he passed away peacefully in his sleep and didn't suffer, thankfully.

'Oggy' was an old skooler and former Amiga enthusiast, much like myself; however, he was more a forum lurker than a poster. He was also an insulin dependent diabetic like myself, but his symptoms were far more severe than mine; he had lost the sensation in the lower part of his legs, he was partially blind in one eye through a cataract (one eye had been operated on to restore normal sight) and his health had deteriorated badly in recent months. He wasn't really looking after himself properly in recent years, hence a carer had been allocated to him. I last saw him about two weeks ago and was thinking of calling around this weekend.

He lived alone after divorcing 5 years ago and leaves two brothers, one stepbrother and three grown up sons.

God Speed and Farewell Albert, you deserve a rest, after all that you have suffered.

Man down.........his operating system has shut down for the final time..... :(

Edit: Oggy's avatar has been changed accordingly as below.

Re: AmiBay member passed away - Oggy........

Thanks to you all, your thoughts will be passed on the family.

To my friend, wherever you are now....

"Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die."

I believe that no-one dies until all the lives that person has touched dies, so he will be around for a lot longer yet.

Albert, there will always be a kettle on for a brew, if you need to call round.....

Well, we said our final goodbyes to Oggy yesterday, it was very sad. I still can't get my head around the fact that he has gone.

Thank you all on behalf of his family for your messages; I will print this thread off and pass it to the family with all of your best wishes.
