Folks, this is a long post as I just spent 2 hours of searching and following links, looking through the forum pages, until I became confused. Amibay is a site noted for its strict rules and the moderator's close attention to them, often telling those that post here about not following the Rules.
In this line of reasoning, I was looking to see if I could bump an item for sale after less than 4 weeks and went looking to check the Rules. I could not find them posted at the main web page, so I used Search, and typed in "Rules" and any combination, thereof, did not find them.
Next, I went looking into Forums: “General Chat,” “Help & FAQ,” “News & Announcements, "General Chat,” and "AmiOracle;" I then looked through the "Feedback Archive," “What’s an Item Worth” post, “Thread Guidelines,” and the "Amibay News and Information" archives.
I did locate the, “Rules of the News and Events forum” (that providing no help), searching until I finally found the “The BUMP Rule Please Read" post, that stated, "...especially long-standing members who should know better." The author then stated, “The ONLY time you can make a NEW post is when you reply to a members declaration or direct question" -- so I can assume that I am in trouble for asking, "Where are the rules posted." So I only needed to wait 2 weeks, not 4 to bump my item. Wish I could have found that sooner.
However, this post is not clearly written, requiring a prior knowledge of both undeclared and "unwritten" rules. Obviously, poorly worded posts also make me confused. You make think that I am taking this post out of context, [https://www.amibay.com/forum/amibayers/general-chat/110127-the-bump-rule-please-read]. The author, Sardine, then states, "There is also an unwritten rule as it should be common sense." This post comes with no link to the other rules, unwritten or otherwise, as if “common sense” is a universal value posted everywhere. I do not assume that poorly written statements or posts hold as much value as concise, well written ones do. The author decided to use a lot of Primary Colors and full word Capitalization's in the post for unexplained reasons.
Moving along, I finally, in the Hardware Selling Forum, located https://www.amibay.com/forum/want-to-sell/hardware-for-sale/amiga/495-please-read-me-before-posting. This has a "Rules and User Notice" that links to: https://www.amibay.com/showthread.php?t=10 -- a blank page, and a link to "Forum Rules," [https://www.amibay.com/misc.php?do=vsarules] -- another blank page.
Imagine my confusion over Amibay's Rules.
For those who took their time to read this, thank you. For those who choose to ignore this, C'est La Vie. I do believe that a Complete set of Rules and Regulations (not just some of them tucked away in obscure areas) should be in an easy to find and prominent location, without the need for failed searching, and without the need to post blank pages at their "location." It is clear, though, some moderators, utilize blank pages as a way of posting "unwritten" rules.
