Amiga 1000 CPU upgrade

I know there are a few solutions that offer a daughterboard-style upgrade option, but for a direct CPU replacement, is the 68010 the only option? If so, what version do I need 9and what is the pin count)?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

It uses a DIP-64 CPU like the A500:

I think perhaps the Vampire 500+ could work in it as well? That would make for a beefy A1000.. Although I don't know if it will fit physically.

Oooh, I am on the list for the A500 Vampire board too, interesting. Thank you for the CPU answer, helps a ton. Seems to be a nice, safe upgrade, albeit small perf gain overall.
