$500 USD + shipping

This is an original Amiga 1000 (A1000) in very nice condition. (See testing results and condition description below)

Includes A1000 main unit & Workbench v1.2 floppy, no keyboard, no mouse, no manuals, no power cable, no wires.

Cosmetics:
  • looks very nice (has some kind of plastic clip taped to the left side)
  • a little yellowing (along top front edge and the seams on the side)
  • small gouge/scratch under the front amiga logo
  • memory cover stays in place, but is a little loose (to be expected after all these years)
  • bottom case screw (that holds floppy cover is stripped and turning)
Specifications:
  • 256KB Ram (front ram expansion NOT installed)
  • this A1000 has been modified with a CMI Kickstart Eliminator upgrade. The kit consists of some traces being cut, some jumper wires added, a replacement PAL chip and 2 extra roms being installed.
  • Kickstart v1.2 is now in held in four 64KB onboard ROMs (You will not have to insert a Kickstart disk during booting).
Testing: (only the following items/functions have been checked)
  • tested composite video output using a cheap composite to vga adapter
  • tested typing with A1000 keyboard (NOT included)
  • tested cursor with original Amiga tank mouse in port 1 (NOT included)
  • boots using Workbench v1.2 floppy (INCLUDED) on internal floppy drive DF0: (I don't know if it can boot any other versions of workbench)
  • external floppy port works (I connected an external floppy drive, and it can read floppies as DF1:
  • internal floppy drive is a little noisy while spinning (it may need to be cleaned or aligned).
  • need to press the floppy in with a little extra pressure for it to engage
Not tested: (If I don't mention it, assume it was not tested)
  • Sound output (I don't have any speakers at the moment)
  • Printer port
  • RGB video port
  • Serial port
  • RAM port
  • Side expansion port (cover is NOT included)
  • WCS (writable control store) daughter board ( I don't have a copy of Addmem )
Overall, this is a very nice condition Amiga 1000. Normally, Kickstart is loaded from a floppy and held in the WCS (writable control store) daughter board, which is an extra 256KB of RAM that most people don't know about. Because this 1000 has been modified to hold Kickstart 1.2 in onboard rom, the WCS is disabled. There are rumors that you can enable the WCS memory using the "Addmem" program and use as extra ram, but I don't have a copy to test with.

Keep in mind that there a lot of socketed chips inside(along with the WCS daughter board), so they may become loose in shipping if the delivery carrier abuses the package. You would then have to re-seat the chips/connectors.

This item is being sold as-is due to age(almost 40 years), but I do package my items very well!

Parts have been photographed and marked for proof of origin.

For anyone wanting to try the WCS memory added ram trick you could try autoaddram program using memacs edit and save as memorylist.aar as $00FC0000 $00FFFFFF in the S dir. That may work.

The trick works with a bit modified address in the memorylist.aar file:

0f80000 0fbffff

What a find. Thanks for clearing that up. The $ is ofcourse not needed however went with someone elses hex values. They never looked up the KS start address and moved it all up by 256k not realising the WCS is 256k not 512k. Thanks a million for that.

Addresses found in the scan of Kickstart Eliminator manual, I was not crazy testing all the possible ranges to find the working one ;)

Thanks, that's what I needed yesterday to get the final big picture 🙏

Here's our range, of course with just 256kB instead of 512kB because of the A1000 Kickstart size being smaller.
