Hi,

I recently purchased an Amiga 1200, IDE > CF adapter and a CF card.
Got the CF installed no problem and the Amiga see's it fine.

I bought a set of Workbench 3.1 disks (Amiga Forever) and partitioned my CF card in to 2 1900mb drives and installed.

Now I have a few issues, when I try to open any prefs I receive the message: Requires asl.library V38

When I try to open screen mode pref it is a little different, 'Unable to open your tool screenmode'

And the most worrying - when I open Multiview I get:

Program failed error 8000000b
wait for disk activity to finish.

I have tried setting the CF card speed as per guides and reinstalling but I am receiving the same messages....

If anyone can offer any advice I would greatly appreciate it.

Kind Regards,
Jamie

It doesn't sound like any issue with the CF card, it seems you either didn't complete fully the Workbench install or some other program you install is causing this.

More info on your setup would help.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies, there is an ASL Library in Libs but I will try updating it now with the one you sent.
I am not installing any other software.

My Setup:
Amiga 1200 ROM: Kickstart Version 39.106, Exec version 39.47, Disk version 40.42
IDE > CF adapter
4GB Kingston CF
Expansion board - Viper 1230 4MB Fast RAM

How I have installed:
Boot Workbench 3.1 from floppy
Run HD Tool
Partition drive, 2 partitions, 1900 MB each.
Reboot, boot from Workbench 3.1 floppy again
Insert install disk
Run install and insert required disks when asked and reboot.

When I reboot from hard disk I am running in to the problems.

Update: Tried to update my current asl.library with the one above but in transferring via crossdos on floppy the installer won't run. Tried to patch the file manually to no avail.
The library definitely isnt missing - and I spoke to the guys who sold me the disks and they have sold 1000's of copies and even did a test install with the same disks and have no problems.

Can you try without your expansion board?

Hi,

Still exactly the same errors with the expansion board out of the machine.
Should I completely re-install like this?

Edit: With the expansion board out of the machine and the CF card out of the machine running Multiview from the Workbench Floppy produces the wait for disk activity error.
I think there may be something wrong with my hardware :(

It was to rule out the expansion being the issue.

I think probably it will be the same if you install it again but you can try.

The other option is to download a full set of original 3.1 ADF's and do the install on WinUAE and see if it works on your Amiga then.
