For what it's worth, I painted mine black and used key stickers (iComp and others sell them) to great results. That may be an option for you too.

That's exactly what I used. I left the function keys untouched, so that in the end I had a mix of black and orangey keys that looked not too dissimilar from the C64/VIC-20 Fanta keyboard.
